I think placement is key here. If he took out Jennings, and THEN bashed up Briggs for sport and some pocket cash, and then unified with the WBC titlist, and finished off with the Povetkin rematch (in Russia with a neutral ref that's never before officiated a Klitschko fight, just for a sign of good faith and transparency) that would be fine. The bit about ending with Briggs is what really just seems gauche. It would be a whimper, not a bang.
:deal Succinctly put, and my exact same sentiments on the subject. K2 had the decency not to press an old Holyfield, even when Vits was active -- an old Holyfield who would have still beaten the current Briggs they want to face now. Furthermore, the October 2010 Vitali-Briggs fight should still loom large. Briggs was literally a human punching bag in there and probably should've been pulled out four years ago. He has deteriorated even further beyond where he was when he last faced a Klitschko, as hard as that might be to fathom. :blood This scenario is by no means comparable to any previous HW Champion's 'perceived' soft touches... in my opinion. The whole situation with Briggs is turning into a black mark on an already lackluster division.
I dont want to see WLad fighting Briggs in a voluntary. I was ok with that match, only if Jennings didnt want to fight Klitschko, so Klitschko stay busy. But after Jennings, Klitschko should fight Fury or Wilder.
