It's sickening me to see people say Johnson put back Civil Rights and there wouldn't be another black champion for 22 years as if it was his fault. To even think such a notion without applying the proper critical thinking to that premise is beyond ludicrous. There should have never been a color barrier to begin with. The atrocities committed against other races should have never happened. THAT is the core of the problem and THE Elephant in the room. To think that somebody rebelling against said wrong system is to be blamed for it getting worse is downright silly at best, re****ed at worst. The problem wasn't Johnson it was the people in power along with the hegemony class of the U.S. They were solely to blame for the system created to keep black and others down, then when somebody mocks the system and outright defies it, it's somehow their fault it got even worse. Please. I mean really.

Not a booker T guy? How about WEB?

OUCH. And to call a black man " boy " back then was a racy thing to do. Calling color women two-timers was something a person with class would never say.

So what you are really saying is because a person as Jack Johnson, Al Sharpton, and others are a member of a minority
that at one time were oppressed, individual members of that group get a free pass, NO MATTER what evil they do ?
This defines a liberal mentality. "A liberal is a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet "...
Whatever actions they commit in a society is OK by thinkers like you. I ABHOR prejudice of any kind, but statistics DO NOT LIE.
In NYC for instance black people make up 23% of the population
but suffered 62% of homicides committed by other blacks. An inconvenient truth to bleeding hearts today...I hate to inject
politics on ESB, but some truths must be asserted to set the damn record straight...Jack Johnson, though I shook his hands
when I was a youngster was a truly great fighter, but his many
bad flaws cannot always be blamed on his background or race.
    Have a good day...

I've read quite bit about Johnson in newspapers English, and US , a thesis, and several books.

I'm no expert on any aspect of boxing, or the men that participate in it. Neither am I that green that I swallow any line some one wishes to promulgate.
I've never tried to justify Johnson's behaviour and he must be held partly responsible for his own downfall but he sure had some help in that , and mostly from the White press and public. You can post what you like.
I've just bought a new PC and all my info is on the old one and I sure can't be ****d to get into a ****ing contest retrieving it and posting it here.
If you say you have interviews with Blackburn speaking FOR Louis,I'll take your word for it and concede the point.
I'm pleased that you didn't feel the need to adopt your previous tone , you can make your point without sneering or insults and you are smart enough to know that.

We aren't talking about today... There wasn't at ONE TIME with Jack Johnson... He lived through it personally, so I'm not sure what much of your post is about. This isn't about Ferguson or Martin... This is Jack Johnson who was born 1878 through when he was champion. There was no, at one time his people suffered atrocities, he lived through the time and witnessed it first hand.

    Racy?

Just to set the record straight becuase you have repeated this lie twice on this thread
Johnson never called all black women two timers
I can quote this pretty accurately .

"I could love a black women but everyone of them I loved was unfaithful to me". The important part is I LOVED, that doesn't try and suggest all black women are two timers it says all the black women he was in a relationship with were
.I doubt if you will see the difference but I'm content everyone else will.

Calling a man a N****R SKUNK and refusing to shake his hand is something a person of class would do I suppose?

Johnson also twice signed to defend against Jeannette but the authorities vetoed both defences.

There is a good scene in the Great White Hope when just as Jefferson/Johnson is going down to the ring to fight Jeffries he is assailed by a group of blacks who say ,win for us and we will be proud to be black tomorrow.I think it is about 20.22 on the tape.

I guess you could use the ****ogy of a terrorist who has taken some people hostage.

Without identifying with the terrorists position in any way, you still don't try to provoke him unless you need to, because he can harm the hostages.

I think that even Johnson himself came to the view that he had awakened a monster, after the post Reno troubles.

Booker T got caught peeping through a key hole into a women's dressing room .
Referring to him Johnson, said "it wasn't me that got caught looking though the wrong door!"
    Here's a bit about Booker T.

"Exasperated with Washington's low-key responses in the Atlanta and Brownsville cases, his old friend Fortune finally broke with him. More serious for Washington was the founding of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in 1909. Melvin J. Chisum, a northern confidant of Emmett Scott, had infiltrated Trotter's Boston Suffrage League and later the Niagara Movement, the forerunner of the NAACP, and reported the activities of both groups back to Tuskegee. Characteristically, Washington had a spy planted at the NAACP's founding meeting. Nonetheless he was unable to prevent the creation of the NAACP, the membership of which included blacks, sympathetic white progressives, Jews, and even a few white southerners, or to influence its agenda, which included a broad-based call for a major assault on all fronts against racial injustice and white supremacy. Washington's old nemesis Du Bois became editor of the organization's monthly magazine, the Crisis. Although Washington privately supported many of the goals of the NAACP, his concern was its threat to his own power within the black community".

You're jerk ,a liar, and most assuredly an ass ,and you sure ain't no fighter!
