With comments like this you should be ban. Mosley was nothing special? Tito ain't stopping Mosley get serious. The only welterweight capable of stopping a prime Mosley is Tommy Hearns.
I really like both of these fighters but lets take a look at a common opponent, Oscar De La Hoya (not that this matters really) Oscar beat Trinidad, Mosley beat Oscar. But when Mosley beat Oscar, Oscar tried to be the aggressor and wanted a war but it backfired because Shane had a great chin and was faster. In the second fight, we saw Oscar use his brain and outbox Mosley rather easily most of the fight, but wasn't as easy as how simply oscar outboxed Trinidad for 9.5 rounds of their fight. I would have LOVED to see this fight but if I had to pick, man they were both beasts and ATGs who are their prime were almost unbeatable. I have to go with Tito though based on power and size. Mosley had the speed to give Tito hell, but I believe at some point Tito lands that left hook and eventually Mosley can't continue. I think Mosley gets up if he goes down but once hurt, is the beginning of the end. I do think Mosley has a chance of hurting tito but very hard to see him KOing him. It would be a vicious fight, that is for sure. And Mosley doesn't have the movement or ring IQ that oscar had, eventually he would be forced to stand and fight.
No welterweight not named Thomas Hearns is stopping a prime Shane Mosley. Decision Mosley- possibly. Knocking Shane Mosley out- very unlikely.
Mosley had some whiskers on him but really I don't think he fought a true puncher like Tito. Forrest's right hand vs Tito's left hook..I'd take Trinidads left. Admittedly a fair question is would he be able to zero it in as much as Forrest did? Maybe not but he probably wouldn't need to. There were a couple of times in Mosley-Forest I that a British stoppage could have happened. I think Smoger reffed that one, so obviously that was never going to be an issue that night. I wouldn't put money on Tito getting a stoppage but I think in the short list of fighters that might be able to stop a prime Mosley at ww Felix has to be in it.
Nothing special at WW can u not read? Everyone who knows boxing knows Mosley was far far better at lightweight than at any other weight, that's where he made his name and did great things Between 1999 and 2013 Mosley beat 3 credible opponents ODH (fair enough) Vargas (who was nvr the same after being decapitated by Tito 6 years earlier and was at the end of his career) and Margarito and we all know his state of mind during the fight
This is what I think to. He would most likely be up on the cards but his willingness to trade would be his undoing. Tito needed to be boxed with discipline. If you came to him trying to trade he was going to catch you sooner or later.
i agree mosley beats trinidad. the oscar-trinidad fight was perhaps the most boring title fight ever staged. was one punch even landed? the whole party i was at was ****ed off that neither guy really tried to engage.
I read you quite well. The difference is the level of opponents between 130 and 147 that shane fought. The guys shane fought at 130 were not as talented as the guys that he fought at 147. Thats why it appears as though he was better at 130 than he was at 147.
U are correct but apart from Mayweather he cleaned up and dominated at LW. He was a beast at lightweight and close to unbeatable an consider an ATG at the weight.... At WW he was far from great which is why I think Tito at his natural weight would handle him quiet easily :good
Mosley was a very good light weight and a great fighter. Like someone mentioned, he wasn't a very good Welter beside his claim to fame and his biggest accolade that came from ODLH not adjusting when he couldn't blast Mosley away because he allowed his pride to get the best of him after some criticism for the way he fought the last 3 rounds against Tito. Oscar could have always used his boxing skill to beat Mosley the way he did it the second time against a roided Mosley. I can't give Mosley the benefit of the doubt in this one if I consider that Mosley struggles against tall lanky fighters who can fight from the outside which Tito could and did very well. Tito is naturally bigger than Oscar who is bigger than Mosle. Mosley never beat another great fighter again. Tito was a reigning welter champ for a very good while. The only way to beat Tito was to hit and not be hit.
Excellent points. Trinidad is the most underrated fighter on these forums. There is NOTHING that Forrest could do at 147 that Trinidad couldn't. Some people here need to brush up on their terminology. A ''limited plodder'' is Ruslan Provodnikov. Felix Trinidad was a poised, pinpoint accurate, KO punching stalker with wonderful combination punching thrown in.
It would be a war of attrition. I think Tito would had a great chance to win because his endurance and the way to put pressure. Specially in the later rounds. Plus SSM as great as he was, he always had problems with tall lanky fighters like Forrest for example.
