It was low-risk. Roy knew in the worst case scenario he could simply run away from Ruiz. Not like the guy was a killer. Easy enough to pick him apart.

Most of this has been covered on the other thread, with actual sources, which you have completely dismissed.

There is more than enough evidence that proves that Roy didn't chose the path of least resistance.

I've shown you evidence of Roy and Greg Fritz going to Atlanta to meet Jim Thomas and Evander Holyfield.

    I showed you the link.

    What was your response?

'I don't need to read your link, because I knew Evander's nephews'

    :rofl

You have been shown plenty of evidence in the other thread.

    You have completely ignored it.

Yet you're asking me to post it here?

I've refuted lots of your points.

If Roy had really ducked Collins and a faded Nunn, why did he try and fight Evander?

Has your brain still not worked out why I posted you the Evander link?

Why don't you tell us how Roy ducked Ray Close and Iran Barkley during his SMW reign, even though Barkley never fought at SMW at that point?

    Let's start with that.

    What?

Roy didn't fight better fighters than Dariusz M, a faded Benn, a faded Nunn, Collins, or Roch?

    Ha!

Like Toney, Hopkins, Johnson, Tarver, Ruiz and Calzaghe etc?

Just list every guy that Roy missed.

    Then ask yourself two questions:

    1. Were those guys better than the best guys who he actually fought?

    2. Would they have brought bigger challenges?

Here's a few examples to start you off.

Would fighting Collins at 27, have been a bigger challenge than fighting Ruiz at 34?

Would fighting a faded Nunn at 28, have been a bigger challenge than burning muscle to fight Tarver at almost 35?

Would fighting Roch at 31, have been a bigger challenge than fighting Calzaghe, just weeks from being 40?

But let me show you just how silly you are.

If the Ruiz win was completely devoid of any significance, then why do you care that he didn't fight a guy like Roch?

    Think about it.

If beating Ruiz for the WBA, HW title at 34, meant nothing, what would a win over Roch have meant?

Are you telling me that you'd have rated a win over Roch, even though the win over Ruiz was meaningless?

    Ha!

Winning the WBA, HW title was meaningless.

But if Roy had've won the WBO, SMW from Collins, that would have been awesome, right?

You're that silly, you're now getting schooled in TWO threads instead of one.

Just because Roy didn't beat Lennox, it doesn't mean the Ruiz win wasn't great.

Also, in 1991, Roy fought at JMW.

Zod pretty much cleaned out some of Killsomething's puke in the other thread, and we all know Zod will not stick up for Roy unless it is a complete fact.

No Loudon left of the part about Lewis-Holyfield which had been brewing for months before Jones thought to go to Atlanta and then you also left off how Jones after this 'discussion' continued to fight joke fights and you also left of how AFTER the Lennox fights Holyfield was willing to accommodate Jones for a fight.

You only look at one side and ignore timelines. Holyfield had bigger fish to fry at that time and anyone that was following Boxing at the time knows what was going on.

And you ignore the fact that Jones refused 10mil plus PPV upside against Sanders to fight Tarver for much less money than that after telling us how Jones only wanted "big money fights" :rofl:patsch

You are a clown and a child and it really is pointless telling you all this since you "know" what Glass Jaw Roy was "thinking". Maybe you can fly to Pensacola and help Jones get out of debt since you "know" so much I am sure he would be grateful.

    Dear Roy Jones,

I know you are a glass jawed fraud as I am a chin expert. I know for a fact your dinner with Holyfield to talk about a potential fight was all smoke you were blowing. You have been hiding a fragile mandible.

I have time and time again excused Holyfield for not fighting you due to bigger fish to fry, but at the same time I hate that you didn't fight retired Steve Collins who called you out in the ring after you fought a civil servant, instead you tried to keep HBO happy by unifying the division against world champions. An iron chin is the most important attribute in professional boxing. I would know, as I have the best chin on ESB.

Lets not get carried away with beating Ruiz, he was not allowed to cheat, and you busting his nose to the point of blood running down his chest had nothing to do with him hesitant to engage, that was all Jay Nady not letting Ruiz cheat and rightfully so. By the way you have a glass jaw. The big right hand Ruiz hit you with the whole world was fooled, that hit you in the chest.. Toney didn't stop Holyfield, Ruiz didn't hurt Holyfield, and oh yeah you have a glass jaw.

    yours truly,

    Rico

How many boxers who have fought at 154 have won a heavy weight title?

    Rico Spadafora,

    How many more times?

Why are you arguing against what Jim Thomas wrote?

Once again, a potential huge fight with Lennox, was not the reason why Evander didn't want to fight Roy in 1998.

He gave specific reasons why he didn't want the fight.

    Which is in the link.

He felt as though he was in a no win situation at the time.

    It's not hard to comprehend.

After discussions, Roy was unable to obtain big fights against the likes of Dariusz and Hopkins, so he fought his mandatories, until he got the Ruiz and Tarver fights.

Evander was willing to fight Roy in 2003, because at that point, everyone's circumstances had changed.

I look at the whole picture.

Again, you have completely dismissed Evander's specific reasons for not wanting to have fought Roy in 98.

    I haven't ignored anything.

Roy was approaching 35, and he wanted huge money to remain at HW.

When a huge money fight didn't materialise, he went back down to LHW to challenge Tarver.

    What exactly don't you understand?

I specifically said that Roy wanted huge money to remain at HW.

    You haven't told me anything.

You can't comprehend logic, you don't allow for circumstances, and you're totally biased.
