If he fights to the level i know he can he will put on a master class tonight he can crack and has a iron chin rios needs to get in the inside as much he can hitting alvardos body so he can set up the big right hand :yep He nearly knocked alvardo down with just a jab in the second fight and alvardo has a solid chin and is 165 on fight night Chavez felt rios power and was looking for a way out WAR BAM BAM
rios is a washed up slugger who never had much going for him except for his toughness....he's a typical mexican fighter whose career declined prematurely because he took way too much punishment.
I agree with the op I think he just had an off night against Pacquio possibly injured or drained, I think he going to come on big tonight and smash Alvarado
Definitely underrated to some degree. He was regarded as a bum punching bag even back when he was still undefeated.
Beating an Alvarado that took 2 life changing beatings in his last 2 fights wont prove anything. Brandon is a bum, D level fighter at best, and one of the biggest cherry picks in PPV history.
Nah Rios is sht Good that he managed to carry his power and iron chin with him up to a higher weight (where he should have been at in the first place) He has a horrible HORRIBLE almost non existant outside game...but he does possess a nice powerfull jab however it can be pretty slow and he rarely throws it. Rios should win this fight like he did first time around because Alvarado looks completely done...Rios is much younger and much "hungrier" he can take more punishment than Alvarado at this stage in his career. You know how Rios can make this fight easy? throw that damn jab before trying to make his way inside...it doesn't even need to land or have anything on it...but just the act of throwing a long army punch tires Rios more than a short power punch LOL I'd have bet much more for Rios to win by TKO/KO tonight but I can't get rid of the niggle in my mind of his awfull ability which makes me reserved.
severely underrated is pretty strong. he's a tough guy with a big heart and a big chin. most of those guys are going to get beat, sometimes soundly, from time to time by guys who know how to hit and not get hit. be what it be. if anything, anyone who thought he was anything else were overrating him. i like watching him for sure. i don't know how long his face first style will last but it's been fun. all that said, i think alvarado is shot and rios will wear him down and stop him around 7-8.
