didn't and won't watch documentaries on pac and tapia...any reviews?

The Pacquiao one is decent, didnt **** suck pac too much and actually discredited him in some ways. my problem with it was Liam Neeson. Apparently they could only afford to pay him to narrate 1/8 of the film

The Tapia doc was brilliant, really makes you feel for him and the the hype around the Romero fight was electric!

 

When you're curious about something, you are interested, even if just a little.

 

I watched Tapia a few weeks to a few months ago so I don't remember every little thing but the Danny Romero back story with the rival gang tensions was interesting

A good documentary is on YouTube just search joe louis vs max schmeling rare doc it'll come right up

Truth be told I find the good but not great or the journeyman stories more interesting than the phenoms

The guys who had to take the short money and surrender the negotiations and fight tough opponents because they weren't the draw

Haven't seen Tapia, but I watched Manny.

It was really, really good. I won't lie and say I didn't cry at the end. Because I did. But you would too, so don't judge me.

 

I actually appreciate CMs desire to learn about the salient points of both movies - but ffs CM, you could probably have watched one at least merely in the time you've spent responding to the posts. Prioritise.

Thing is you gave no detail on what you already know about either Pac or Tapia - these are both kinda Biopics focusing more on the personal lives of both guys rather than their boxing achievements... and if you ain't interesting in watching a dramatisation you can easily find brief written bios of both guys elsewhere that include the salient points and pivotal moments in both guys lives.

Are you trying to ask if the movies are worth watching? Welll... no-one else can telll you that... you find out when you watch them for yourself what they mean to you.

I guess that could be interesting. The best boxing doc I ever saw was on a prospect who'd just won the golden gloves and people were fighting over him before he'd earned a dime. He had this strong relationship with his local trainer who'd been there for him for years and the new promoter or manager was trying to cut that dude out of his life. Meanwhile, you have the prospect's first taste of the good life with a professional training camp, but the old trainer comes by with some of the guy's less talented boxing friends. Eventually, the prospect goes back to his early trainer who he has a relationship with and rejects the powerful scout guy. I looked the guy up on boxrec a while back and he'd won his first six fights by knockout, then like nothing.

Of course, The Fighter also fit's the bill of what you are describing and that movie ****ed me off the way it ended. A bio pic about Micky Ward and it ends years before he fights Gatti? WTF?
