What are the implications of Jennings defeating Wladimir?

This fight is scheduled for April in New York.

In the EXTREMELY unlikely event that undefeated American Heavyweight Bryant Jennings defeats Wladimir, by either knockout or decision, what are the implications?

What I mean by this, is will the media react? Will people care? What does it mean for the future of the H.W division?

It's a fascinating question to ponder.

Jennings won't beat Wlad, unless Wlad injures himself in the fight or something weird happens. Jennings is too weak, no scary power. And power is the key what you need to beat Klitschko.

 

I know he won't win but I ask what IF it happened.

Deontay Wilder would get stopped in his first fight with Jennings, then come back in rematch and bite off both By's ears.

Well many Klit****s will be crying themselves to sleep should the unthinkable happen that's for sure.

In terms of the sport it would be significant as is the case whenever a great and dominant champion is unexpectedly dethroned. How significant would be dependent upon what happens in the rematch. If Jennings wins the rematch, then it changes the landscape of the heavyweight division and we could be seeing the beginning of a new era. In terms of the divisions popularity I don't think it would change much. Boxing in general in the US is in decline especially outside the Hispanic demographic, so a black US champion may do little to revive the division and Jennings doesn't seem the kind of personality like Ali or Tyson that could change this.

As for Wlad. It's hard to say, it depends upon how he loses and what Jennings achieves afterwards. But it will have a negative impact on his legacy.
