Arreola was touted as a legitimate contender around these forums, with people saying he could KO Wilder. Arreola lost to Stiverne twice and badly. Couldn't take his shots well. Wilder destroyed Stiverne and tanked his shots. Wilder >>> Arreola.
Arreola is this generation's Butterbean. The difference is that Butterbean knew what he was, and there were actual good heavyweights around back then to keep him down as a side show. So basically, we are in a **** generation where Buterbean would be of the upper level
I agree. He's more of a volume puncher, and when he was knocked down in both fights he was caught coming in. Wilder took the punches better because he was in better defensive position. I would pick Wilder to win, but there would be danger early.
Arreola is a pressure fighter which comes in consistently. I always thought he'd be a lot of trouble for Wilder. Now I don't know. Clearly Wilder can move and fight off the back foot for 12 rounds. Arreola is gonna get ram rodded by that jab the entire time he moves forward, and I have no doubt he can stun Cristobal with the right. Wilder could take this one. But the danger would be there at least the first 5 or 6 rounds.
I like Arreola. It's such a bummer he gets so much smack. Super nice guy, and he's really been tryinv to control the weight issue lately. I love the guy, always puts on a great show.
