Duran @135 1978 version smothers and punishes Floyd. He would walk through Floyd`s `power` shots with ridiculous ease. Floyd has nothing to keep duran off of him so he can`t gain Duran`s respect. And if Floyd tries hugging and mugging like he did with Maidana... He`d get a night long lesson on the art of infighting from a TRUE master. Either at 135 or 147 Duran punishes Floyd to a 13 rd TKO... Seriously,this is a horrid fight for Floyd... Castillo and Maidana were problematic for Floyd and they aren`t anywhere near the class of Duran...
Im a Floyd fan, i havent seen footage of benitez but from whatbive seen from Leonard hes not going to lose to Floyd, thats nothing bad on Floyd though as hes at his prime below LW and Leonard started at WW
I think people need to sit and watch SRL/Duran 1 then SRL/Hearns 1. Then does anyone seriously see Floyd competitive against these ATG`s,at their best ??? Look at what SRL had to walk through and take from Hearns to finally get to him. Does anyone realistically think Floyd survives that ?? Or the violent tenacity of Montreal Duran ??
Mayweather wins if he runs the whole night. Actually, I'm not sure because Floyd depends a lot on his shoulder roll rather than just moving, which is what, imo, gives Duran the most problems. It's possible that Duran could overwhelm him while he shoulder rolls.
watching SRL/Hearns is what made me see what made those fighters great. Duran and SRL and while i havent seen a lot of footage from Hagler even him most people seem to agree that he could box or fight on the inside. These fighters could fight walking forward or backwards while today theres very few who can do that.
I don't recall any fights where shoulder roll's gave Duran problems. Can you reference two or three fights to back this up.
Personally I wouldn't, because it wasn't all that competitive. Bad style match. It would be pretty much the same for Floyd although I think he'd last longer because his less aggressive fighting style would likely keep him in the fight longer.
Money coasts to a UD with a possible TKO late in the fight. Hell, if Dejesus and Wilfredoe Benitez were able to outbox him imagine what Money would do.
Robert Duran = Miguel Cotto. Duran vs Cotto would be very close fight that could go anyway Floyd is another level.
