Arum said.....That right there should be a red flag.

Showtime VP Stephen Espinoza has publically stated that Showtime and HBO are still working on an agreement and that their agreement is the last hold up.

Sorry, your right. Next year is CBS turn. NBC,FOX,CBS all take turns. Still don't see a problem with NBC giving CBS free promo for the fight, knowing they could get it back when CBS host.

Yeah! Because they're going to give a competitor free air time during the most expensive advertising slot of the year.

I'm thinking they might announce the fight the day of the super bowl so that people will talk about it while watching the game but probably not buy any air time during the actual game

The amount of public backlash he will face if this goes down.

It's probably a haggling tactic while they iron out the contract. If Cotto doesn't defend the belt by June he loses it; so he's got to fight someone. Mayweather has until September to defend his belts, but he'll have to concede he's not the draw he used to be if he doesn't fight in May, so he's up against a wall too. It's a game of chicken. Usually Mayweather doesn't pay opponents more than 1/10 what he gets for a fight and I think Cotto already got 7 million for Sergio. He probably wants 10 million for the Mayweather rematch and dumping Canelo, which cuts into Mayweather's bottom line.

Then there is getting a sanctioning organization to recognize Mayweather's right to fight for the middleweight title even though he's never fought at that weight etc. Figuring out the undercard with Haymon and what those guys should get paid, and other things.

I'm picturing this First Take episode right now: Stephen A. Smith will shed tears and might attempt to jump off the ESPN building while Skip Bayless will dance on the desk holding a picture of Pacquiao.

hes currently sitting round a load of money and a load of fake friends and women that don't really care about him one bit and would leave him at the first sign of problems, thinking "how can i break it to the masses that i'm just a coward"

Cotto probably having cold feet. His advisers undoubtedly told him that without him, Canelo moves off May 2nd date.

Since Floyd actually doesnt pay a lot to B-sides (Mayweather lottery as its called is only a relative huge payday for Maidana-level fighters), without big PPV upside Cotto will be making far less fighting Floyd than he would have Canelo. Cotto would have made 8-figures fighting Canelo, probably 20mil+ if PPV sold as well as hoped.

As Floyd's B-side he will make maybe 6-8mil,maybe less since Floyds guarantee so large and SHO taking a bath already they arent going to want to make any big guarantees to Cotto as well.

With Canelo on the May 2 date, PPV buys for Cotto-Floyd will come in somewhere around 500k-600k. Bottom line, they thought Canelo was bluffing but he wasnt.

Incidentally this is probably why PAC-Floyd negotiations are still going when they almost stopped... Floyd has 2 real options if he wants May 2nd - Cotto or PAC. For Cotto, for fight to get made he is going to have to severely cut his own pay and dig deep into his own 32m guarantee.

Still waiting for a Pac/Floyd contract to sign.
    As per Showtime:
    --- Arum is lying,
--- there is no contract to sign,
--- Showtime and HBO are unable to work out a deal.
