Wilder is 6'6" or 6'7 and he was only 219 lbs against Stiverne.
This guy is too fragile his win against this fat man proves nothing.
With his skinny legs he looks like a girl on high heels.
Can you imagine this guy against Tyson who destroyed easily
    a 6'2" or 6'3" 247 ponds reigning champion Bruno ?
Can you imagine this guy against tough fighters like Marciano,Holy or McCall ?
Can you imagine this guy against the 7' 300 plus pounds steel-chinned
    Valuev ?
Can you imagine him against Joe Louis' brutal punches ?

Deontay Wilder is 6'7" with an 83" reach and very lean even when he's fighting at nearly 230 Lbs.

He's 33-0 (32) overall and 1-0 in WBC HW World Title Fights. He has KO wins over Owen Beck KO3, Audley Harrison KO1, Siarhei Liakhovich KO1, and Malik Scott KO1.

He definitely has power. He is also athletic. His hand speed and overall movement is good. He uses his height and reach advantages well.

What he showed vs. Stiverne is that he is durable, has good stamina, and he can stick to a fight plan. He went 12 rounds vs. a durable fighter who could also punch. He used a good jab and didn't get discouraged when he couldn't knock Stiverne out. He was able to rock Stiverne often but Stiverne showed once again that he can take a good shot or two.

So, who could Wilder beat from the past?

I'd like to see more but I'll just assume he's as good as I think he is. With that said, here goes-

    Not so greats-

Jerry Quarry... Quarry get dropped, cut, and dropped again. Wilder makes good use of his height, reach, power, jab, and a fast start. Wilder by KO inside of 5 rounds.

Frank Bruno... It's very exciting early on and both men get rocked a few times. They may even take turns picking their asses off the canvas. As the pace slows it becomes a more technical fight and Bruno starts to gain momentum. The pace picks up again in round 4 and Wilder's quickness is the difference. Bruno gets stopped while still on his feet in round 5.

    Greats-

Jack Dempsey... Wilder enjoys a 6" height advantage, a 6" reach advantage, and at least a 30 Lb. weight advantage. This isn't a slow, past prime big man like Jess Willard... this is a young, athletic fighter, and explosive fighter who is in his prime. Ask any honest woman, size does matter! Seriously though, I think Wilder would stop him in the late rounds or at least win a decision.

    Ali... Ali by decision

Grant was much better than Gonzalez, as a matter of fact he stopped him in the 1st round when they fought. Gonzalez was an awful pro.

IMO, Wilder is better than Grant was and will prove that to everyone eventually. I think people aren't giving Stiverne enough credit. Stiverne is a big strong man who takes a good shot and has a lot of power. He did have one stoppage loss early in his career but it was BS IMO. He went 2-0 (1) over the very durable Chris Arreola, dropping him 3 times in two fights (KO6 and W12). The only other fighter to stop Arreola has been Vitali Klitschko, KO10...Vitali did not put him down though. He also stopped Ray Austin in the 10th round, the fight was just about even after 9 rounds but Stiverne still had the power late in the fight.

Grant had some decent wins prior to facing Lennox Lewis (LKOby2) but he was lucky to get by Andrew Golota. Grant never put guys away like Wilder has done, so Wilder punches harder IMO. I honestly think that Wilder has the better chin as well. Power and chin mean a lot. Grant never won a World Title belt, unless you count the IBC.

The Stiverne win is definitely better than anything Grant has. A Golota win would be on a similar level but Grant almost lost (I love that fight though)>

The best thing you can do for Wilder is hope he's the next Cleveland Williams or a heavyweight version of Mark Breland.

Wilder won one significant match, and it seems styles and his opponents will / ring smarts were huge a factors on the results.

I think he's rail legged and glass jawed. Wilder is good enough to be a top 10 contender.

His power to me is unproven vs a ranked fighter and IMO is a little over rated in general.

And being unable to stop him...so he had it all to prove, but he proved it.

Or could he be a heavyweight version of Tommy Hearns?

This, we don't normally agree, but i feel its way too early to talk about Wilder and greats.

Yes hes 33-0, but only 1 of those opponents actually had a pulse.

Wilder has been pro for 5 years and prior to winning the championship his best two wins were Scott and Audley frigging Harrison,

    that resume is truly awful.

Obviously hes still got a lot to bring to the division, so the jury is still out.

As of yet, i think he may beat Patterson, although Stiverne did hit him with some clean left hooks, so if Patterson lands, it could be goodnight.

Fulton had some decent wins but he had some very bad losses throughout his career, not just when he was past prime. He was lankier than Wilder with skinnier arms and not as strong... but he did punch hard. Fulton was stopped by Jack Dempsey LKOby1, Harry Wills LKOby3, Billy Miske LKOby1, and 6 other fighters. He was also involved in fixed fights.

A win over Wilder would be much more impressive than one over Fulton.

I wanna know...Could it be true that Wilder, a 6' 7" HW, only has 18" thighs?

That is like a typical lean woman's measurement, or a skinny hipster dude type at best. Holyfield's were small for any modern HW, 22", but 18" would be tiny for anyone in the division!

I jusr asked if it was true. Though if so, I gotta think that while some can be effective or great with a Tasmanian Devil build-from Fithz through The Real Deal...At a certain point it is too little bulk. He could at least benefit from more leg muscle.

i'm 5'5, bout 135lbs, and, while i don't know the correct way to calculate it, i just wrapped a measure around my thigh for 21 inches. Someone buy that man a bicycle and some eggs.
