Sounds like a great opportunity to redeem/prove himself.

I'm a fan of Macklin, but some of his fans make my **** boil with the ****e they talk.

He's back on the May card in Birmingham. Hope he can put together a successful run, put Heiland behind him and end his career on a happier note.

Boxing can be very cruel. Who would have said Macklin would crash and burn, while Andy Lee becomes a world champion. If anything I always rated Matt above Andy....:-(

He must win obviously ...but more than that he must stay busy. Inactivity had a major part to play in his downfall IMO. Fight every 2-3 months.

Matt's style doesn't lend it's self to fighting 4-6 times a year, though.

He can only fight one way - Guns blazing.

The other way of looking at it is that the "less technical" boxer, like Matt, can't afford ANY loss of sharpness and skill. Therefore it is all the more important to keep sharp and match fit.

You cannot fight 4-6 times a year and expect longevity or to be injury free if your style is based on gun slinging.

Fighting in your home town can sometimes raise your game.

Lets hope the hometown crowd get behind him and help give him that edge.

He fought in Ireland and got laid out. Brutally.

How he raises his game more than that I don't know!

You kidding? Ever hear of guys like Greg, walker etc? Check out how many times they fought. You can't fight LESS than 4 times a year more like. These guys today are just part timers.

I think inactivity played a big part in Mstts downfall over the last 4-5 years.

    This isn't the 40's.

Inactivity? He fought the best and lost. He also thought he was ahead of the other British lads, what more do you want?

    Matt's style + S&C + Sparring + 4/6 fights a year = Worn out. Quickly.

What does that have to do with him fighting in Birmingham ?

And why does that loss suggest that the same will happen next time ?
