Nobody says Wlad is significantly faster than Holmes or the other way around. Objectivly speaking, they seem to have comparable speed. It's just to watch them fight in order to tell.

What about it? Holmes walks his man around the ring like he always does, pumping the jab and mix in his right when he senses his opponent is on the defence. He shows great ring generalship, but Shavers is able to catch him with the jab several times just by pushing forward. Holmes main defence is his swayback, but often he's too slow to get out of the way.

There's absolutely nothing that stops Wlad from establish both is jab and the right hand shot. What would Holmes respond with? His own right hand lacks both reach and power to get a SHW out of there. Wlad would knock him spark out.
