i think ali deserved the decision in the FOTC.

I think based on his record and and H2H Ali is the greatest HW ever, hes at least in the top 2. I also think he lost clearly to Frazier in their first fight. Im in the majority there so I dont worry about weirdos who think otherwise pretending that anyone who voted for Frazier has an agenda.

 

I think he beat Shavers.

Ali had his moments but he did not win.

 

I rate Ali and Louis 1 and 2 based on record and H2H.

 

The Ali on March 8, 1971 was no shadow. I think he probably under-estimated Frazier. Frazier just went out and fought the fight of his life.

Honestly, it seems to me that the very idea of Ali having won FOTC smacks of pro-Ali revisionism gone mad..

The realistic among us, whether Ali fans or not, understand that Smoke won, and deserved to win,FOTC.

 

I forgot to mention Ali-Bonavena. Ali should have been DQ-ed for standing over Bonavena. There, some more truth, and it's quite confusing

 

I'm curios to why the notion of Ali winning FOTC makes people here froth incomparably more at the mouth than the notion that Duran beat Hagler, that two or three put forth in that thread.

There's many more crazy opinions floating around that don't get nearly as much blowback as the one that Ali won FOTC.

I believe Ali won that fight. Close decision but Ali won all three fights in my opinion.

The notion that Duran beat Hagler is worse. But I still think Joe would have been justified in calling the police if Ali had got the nod in FOTC.

 

Watched this fight a lot and again a few weeks ago.
No way could I score it for ali.
I had it 9-5-1 for frazier
Frazier walked right through ali all night, and couldn't miss with the big left hook.
How many of those big flush hooks ali took I didn't count, but if I said 50 of them landed flush (which is 3 or 4 a round) id say I was being very conservative. That's not counting the hundreds of other solid shots frazier was landing.
Ali just didn't work hard enough, he spent long periods on the ropes taking heavy shots. He was wide open to the left hook. He had no strategy to deal with fraziers best shot he just relied on his chin which was grotesquely swollen on that side. Nasty to watch some of those hooks were sickening.
A very clear win for frazier in my eyes. not even close

 

Fraziers defense in that fight was underrated too. Watch how many shots Ali misses. In the early rounds Frazier looked like he had radar.
