The large majority of experts here were wrong about both of these outcomes, but which caused the greater amount of denial and left more haters crying themselves to sleep? :think
This isn't even close. Garcia over Matthysse holds far more water That was a 1a vs 1b matchup Similar to a Froch vs Ward matchup, 1a vs 1b This is NOT 1a vs 1b although it's still a very good win for Wilder.
Damn! You made me realize I should have included a third option: I was wrong about both and continue to deny both equally.
I don't mean which holds more water. After Garcia, many were making excuses about Matthysse's eye being caused by a thumb and Garcia cheated by the amount of low blows. After Wilder, just as many or more are claiming Stiverne was dehydrated or sick or a bum or all three, when Stiverne was expected to starch Wilder. I say Wilder over Stiverne. At least you could see Garcia low-blowing Lucas, but being dehydrated is just unsubstantiated BS.
Hahaha oh sorry I didn't really read the opening paragraph. :rofl LOL I donno dude, the Matthysse fans are still so bitter about it. :rofl Were you here when Matthysse lost? It was the best. People were making threads like "Matthysse is the next Pacquiao" "Matthysse can knock any man out" "Matthysse scares Mayweather" :rofl That all stopped. They are still so bitter about Garcia to this day. They make non stop whining threads about him.
Wilder simply destroyed Stiverne. (119-108 average score) Matthysse - Garcia could easily be called a draw. (112-114 x 2) These two fight can't be compared. Just like apparent low blows and "allegedly being dhyrated" can't be compared either. It's the boxer responsibility to come to a fight hydrated, even if it's true that he wasn't, which I greatly doubt because a truely dehydrated boxer cannot endure a 12 round belt fight. There's no reason to think Wilder-Stiverne II would have a different outcome, on the other hand, you never know what could happen Matt-Garcia II. That's why Garcia refused a rematch even though it was an extremely close fight.
Negative I knew wilder would beat stifferne and dsg would beat matthysse. And I cheered them both on.
They are both interesting cases when studying denial. With Matthysse, fans were in denial about being wrong but they were wrong because they LOVED Lucas. With Wilder, fans are in denial about being wrong but they were wrong because they HATE Deontay.
You make some good points, but, using this same logic, why didn't your vote for Wilder over Stiverne? Yes, Wilder over Stiverne was a very dominant performance and fans are making excuses about being wrong that are nothing but conjecture at best.
I don't think anyone is in denial with Matthysse. When a fight is settled with a 112-114 scoring, which means 1 out of 12 rounds decided the fight, it means the fight is not truely settled and a rematch is necessary. It'd be the case if Garcia lost under the same circumstances.
Because I predicted Wilder would win, but even if i didn't, I'd deal with the fact that Stiverne lost fair and square, there's no room to not be settled with the result. Matt-Garcia is difficult to accept as a loss for Matt, because it was simply too close, and different judges could call the fight a draw, or even a narrow win for Matt. That's a hard to deal with situation.
I am not talking about you. I'm talking about those that are having trouble dealing with it as if they have attached their egos to the outcome. In that case, since Danny/Lucas was closer, there is more justification for picking Deontay/Bermaine than Danny/Lucas.
