Whatever bid wins you should offer to top it up by the amount you'll have saved not travelling to New York to see him fight Quillin. Whaddya say, Dutchie??!! A sort of winners bonus....

Such a fcuking scumbag, always has been always will be.

How is it another one in the eye for Belfast boxing though? Magee has been retired for years. I know he serves as Breen's assistant trainer but he isn't that big of a figure in Belfast boxing. One boxer transgression doesn't mean all the others in his area should get painted with the same brush either.

Again I see where you're coming from but I'm not sure it can be simplified in such black and white terms: be willing to fight every two months or retire?

Maybe he should find a happy medium - box far more regularly, as in 3/4 times this year. I don't think he has to be willing to fight every 2 months to justify staying in the game.

But yeah, staying a lot more busy (compared to recent times) is definitely advisable!

To be fair, he did say every 2 months.

But even that would be too much for a guy of Macklins level. Prospects barely fight that much

What I meant was that it follows another story posted on here about some "unpleasantness" at a recent amateur kids event in Belfast recently. If Fra was around he could elaborate, but I think Fra is dead. He must be dead at any rate cos otherwise he would be on here 10 ties a day!!!
Of course not all Belfast boxers are tainted, I never meant you to infer that.

Yeah I don't know the guy personally but he doesn't have a "friendly" face that is for sure! :thumbsup

I went along to see Eamon Magee challenge Kevin Anderson in Motherwell a few year back. Magee was past his best and Anderson was a good, solid domestic champion at the time. It was a good night.
I look back at Magee's career and the Hatton fight stands out the most. Magee had the style to beat Ricky and if he had a bit more power or was even more professional he could have won that fight.

3 fights against passable opposition in 6 months wouldn't kill him, STB. Then at least he would know if he still wants it or not! Plus he might regain some sharpness lost through 5 years worth of inactivity.

I was not saying he should fight every 2 months indefinitely...for ever and ever...

Hes fought 12 fights in the past 5 years, which isnt exactly inactive for a fighter of his level.

Im actually surprised hes going to keep fighting.
Hes a long way back from a world title fight now and Id be surprised if Commonwealth and British titles matter to him anymore

That's 2 fights a year over 5 years. That IS insufficient activity STB.
    Come on.
I thought you economists were supposed to be good with numbers!

    Insufficient for who?
He seems to think it sufficient. Hes had 3 title shots in those years, so he seems to have played it right.

    Oh come on STB.....
Anyway don't you have some commodities that need brokering?
Keep your eye on the ball. Some fellas investments are counting on you paying attention.
No wonder we sleepwalked into economic catastrophe. If youre anything to go by, on here all day, our economists weren't minding the house. No wonder David McWilliams was the only one to call it right at that rate! All the others were out to lunch while the country went down the toilet.
