Jennings has a good mind for boxing and what he has accomplished for starting the sport at a advanced age is an extraordinary achievement. It seems there is a bit of a trend for the US heavyweights to be late starters.:think I do not expect Jennings to be a betting favorite versus Klitschko. This is going to be another one of those fights that just highlights the gap between Klitschko and the rest of the heavyweight division. To be clear, I think the current heavyweight division is well above average, there are actually quite a few very good heavyweights fighting currently and Jennings is one of them, but there's a very limited supply of ~great~ heavyweights.
Damn Klitchko fans are worse than his haters Cut the bull****. Jennings sucks as does much of the division
Why don't you put on a pair of gloves and go conquer them all then? I'll spot you two eras that are better than the current one but if you try saying more than that a competent unbiased boxing historian will shoot you down.
To go a bit a further, I think people underestimate how historically bad the heavyweight division was. To me when somebody says "the heavyweight division is at an all time low" or something to that effect they are really saying they are a casual boxing fan. Was the heavyweight division better when the heavyweight champion had a 41-23-4 record ( Jim Braddock ) or when the heavyweight champion had a 6-0-1 record and only three fighters in his six wins had winning records? ( Leon Spinks ).
Wilder refused to fight Jennings. Jennings has never been in the ring with a fighter as good as Vlad..............
There aren't any others as good as Klitschko. Some people incorrectly believe this is a weak era when in fact it is not. Do people actually think these guys from a couple of decades ago are better than some relatively current ones? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOLb3lKsEhw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FztXCCz_l5k
You're right. I'm not thinking of things in a historical perspective. You might indeed be right. Furthermore, I don't deny Wlad's skills. But I'm going off what I see when I made my first assessment. There isn't one guy who even looks like he could challenge Wlad and there hasn't been for a long time. Even the hyped up guys that were suppposed to dethrone him were just that. hype. In the lead up to those fights, only those who desperately wanted to see the K bros be beaten believed that they would be lose. Most level headed boxing experts and ****ysts picked. Even with Haye, I think most people knew what was gonna happen there. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of the K bro victims look like garbage. Thats just a fact.
Depends what Jennings wants to do, fight scared on the back foot, or press forward. I think he'll be in survival mode in the hope of getting to the later rounds.
I'll respectfully disagree. Wilder and fury WONT beat klitchko. Fury WONT even enter the ring with Klitschko, ducking him and following Wilder now :deal
Going by the two videos you just posted we can come to the conclusion that in the first vid of Spinks-Coetzee that neither were as polished as the second Vid of Chageav-Povetkin. But we can also see both moved more, worked the body more and could go 15 rounds. However, I'll give you the real reason why the division is so weak today, and you can chack for yourself using The Rings annual ratings....in2011, the year Chageav and Povetkin fought only that fight and Vits-Adamek were contested between top 10 fighters. Compare that to 1979 the year of Spinks-Coetzee and you will see a big difference. Fighters simply dont fight in this era, theyre slower and the dont use a plethora of boxing skills. But yes, they did look more polished, if not in slow motion.
