Larry Holmes: Klitschko has no jab, no heart and would be beaten by Wilder or Stivern

I was replying to Butch and losh, but mainly losh who has repeatedly said that there is a huge gap between today's HW's and the HW's of the past.

It's nothing to do with me not liking the results, I've looked at 2005-2015, because that's Wlad's era of dominance.

If you want to look at 2000-2010 and 2010-today, then be my guest.

My point still stands.

What you've done here, is jumped into the middle of a debate that I was having with someone else.

Again, Losh stated that today's guys are superior, with better defence, better tactics, and that the gap is insane.

So that's why I questioned him, and said 'look, today's guys aren't as good as the HW's of Holmes era from 30 years ago'

I wasn't specifically looking at who Holmes himself had beaten 30 years ago, I was just making a point that as a whole, the HW's haven't got better over time.

Holmes did not fight Coetzee. Did Holmes fight the best available during his time?

It's hard to argue that Klitschko has not fought the best available.

Well, when the random Black guy was named Purrity or Brewster, it didn't work out too well for your hero.

Sorry just rubbing the facts in your face. The 80s and 90s were NO BETTER than the 2010s, like it or not. Otherwise guys like Fat Foreman wouldn't have become lineal champ, otherwise a Eurobum like Schulz wouldn't have gotten 3 title shots, otherwise a fat joke like Frans Botha wouldn't have gotten 2 title shots!

I was talking about 30 years ago omg.
Ken Norton, Holmes, Spinks and so on ...
The guy explain it pretty well with Spinks/Norton and Povetkin/Chagaev.

Also i cant agree on prime thing. You is good, as much as your opponent let you. So you may see a s*** version of Tyson, but that dosnt mean he is not a prime, just his opponent makes him look like an amateur. Get the point?
You can always find and excuses for a guy that lost, that in the exact same night was not in his prime. You lose your prime, when you start decling du to age, or you are young and not reach your full potential, like Joshua for example, or Klitschko at some point in his career.
All other thing is excuses.
Klitschko lose 3 times, there is no excuses for that, but all of the ATG, or almost all have loses. And there is not a single one with a better record of win/loses.

And for eras, the other 2 guys explain it pretty well.
I have this to say:
http://www.heavyweightblog.com/1694/we-live-in-the-worst-heavyweight-era-of-all-time

And for loses: Re-matching and winning is NOT like traveling back in a time machine and undoing mistakes of your past.
A loss stays always a loss. And always stay in your record.

Everyone have his opinion and i dont have problem with it. Do i see the things in a different way then you.

Actually, I am from the USA and I am giving the current heavyweights a fair assessment IMO and I think I'm not the only one from the USA doing that.

You are Bulgarian? lol I went to a tennis match in Toronto when Dimitrov was playing. The Bulgarians in the crowd would wave their flag whenever Dimitrov's opponent was getting ready to serve. The umpire had to tell them to stop. I must admit though there were some pretty fine Bulgarian women in the crowd.

Yeah there is pretty good ladies in Bulgaria, esp in Sofia, where i live. :D

Bulgarian fans are ma** f*** crazy. Tho i not like some of them, because of their behaviour in some sports. In Wlad fight they was booing like complete i*****. They do that in some matches, which is i*****.
Tho you can see the atmosphere and the support for Pulev.
I also like Pulev, but im Wlad fan from very long time and was cheering for Wlad.
And BTW Dimitrov girlfriend is ma** fa*** insane. Maria Sharapova. :D

It's a matter of taste. Sharapova has a mustache, bad skin, a flat butt, no bo obs and looks rather generic to me. On the other hand, I thought some of those olive skinned Bulgarian women were smoking. It was really funny to see how the Bulgarians were supporting Dimitrov. Great fans.

You listed the full 80s decade for Holmes and in reality, his "era of dominance" was arguably over in 84 and unarguably over in 85. Nor did you even list 2005-2015, which still would not be fair, you just tried to present the current ratings as "Wlad's era"

I did, and the results produced a just as strong if not stronger list of fighters.

No, your point didn't stand when dividing the decades up fairly.

Evan than you failed to make that point because you tried to compare a "best of the decade" list to a "best of the year" list. "Best of the decade" is always going to have more depth. The actual argument was that Chag/Povetkin was a more skillful fight than Spinks/Coetzee. And that is valid.
