- Decent lw champ, but lost to esteban dejesus. - fought a close brawl with srl in which srl, the boxer, chose to give up every advantage he had and engage duran in a flat-footed, toe-to-toe slugfest...a fight which either could have won. - quit against srl in rematch and completely outclassed in the rubber match. - outclassed by benitez - utterly decimated by hearns - lost convincing decision to hagler. - lost to kirkland laing a clubfighter with a little lateral movement and counter-punching - lost to robbie simms, a clubfighter - beat davey moore...but moore only had about 10 or 11 fights at the time and was a relative amateur - beat iran barkley, a fighter with a punch and practically little else - essentially, duran lost to EVERY top fighter he ever faced, although he DID avenge the dejesus fights. - very popular for his aggressive style and willingness to take punishment in order to dish it out. all of which adds up to a career that was fun for the fans, but below the standard expected of a guy in the top ten all time pfp which is where he is usually ranked. i rank duran in the top 50, but certainly not any higher than 40...in fact, i think he and jmm are pretty neck and neck...i'd actually pick castillo and corrales to beat him or at least give him a good tussle.

Duran was the greatest lightweight champion in boxing history...............he knocked De Jesus out two times..............Barkley knocked Hearns out, Duran beat Barkley. Duran went 15 close rounds with Hagler, etc. Duran was awesome, esp. whenever he was in shape..............
