    in boxing vernacular, duran is not considered a "boxer"...he's considered a "slugger."

    a "boxer" utilizes lateral movement, counterpunching and is usually on his toes executing jab-and-maneuver tactics.

    a "slugger" is an aggressive fighter utilizing forward movement to deliver hard punches.

    i was saying that posters claimed duran, a fighter recognized as a "slugger" turned into a skilled "boxer" seemingly acquiring mastery of a style not typical of him.

    Talk about blowing things out of proportion lol. You could think he was overrated (even then you'd be in the minority on that one) but is his career really so poor that it deserves laughter?

    ok, i misunderstood, objection withdrawn. All boxers are boxers to me, but you aren't the one who decided one style is called boxing.

    I think you are a bit off with duran = slugger though, definatley at the start of his career he was, but there were real skills and generalship coming in long before the leonard fight imo. by the time of the barkley/hagler fights he was a boxer/puncher style more than any other.

    I guess Duran can get overrated like anyone else... I guess.

    But if you can convince yourself he's not a top 15 quality boxer in history, then I'll take a hit off of whatever you're smoking.

    ok, i can go as high as top 40...no higher.

    and not just overrated....he lost to every top fighter he ever faced and struggled with esteban dejesus. show me another fighter in the top 15 with that kind of resume

    you'd have to clarify what you mean by top fighter and struggled but these might fit.

    Yes Duran and Manfredy are in the same caliber and style. Same goes for Corrales and Dejesus. You have to be the stupidest man on this forum. I like how you go and make a comparison between Duran and a guy Mayweather has beaten. A starved version but the same guy nevertheless. Stop posting, just stop.
