per ****ysis of his fight with Amar Amari, who lasted an 8 rounder 6 1/2 years ago. it is available on youtube. (all of his pro fights are, except the 12th vs Sid.)

    ----------
    1. run for your life, side to side along the ropes, bobbing and weaving whenever he corners you. standing in front of Triple G and allowing him to set is the kiss of death. he's a better boxer than you. he has more power than you.

    2. keep a high tight guard. do not let that jab keep popping your head back or you'll be crushed by something else behind it that you can't defend.

    3. tie him up and stall whenever possible. if Golovkin gets frustrated he will try to close the distance ever tighter and tag you to the body or use uppercuts. grab him in a way that won't cause an immediate break but will force him to have to reset. wrestle.

    4. use feints and a good jab, with an occasional variety of hard punches. fight ONLY in flurries, no trading, and then immediately return to tip 1. or 3.

    5. be able to take a punch. you're going to be hit by something really hard, eventually. it's unavoidable no matter what you do.
    ---------

    notes:

    - that fight was well before being trained by Abel Sanchez and Golovkin is a dramatically different animal now in terms of shape, technique and power but these things are still your only hope. his left hook to the body or head are especially more lethal now.

    - Triple G got clipped by a hard left hook a minute into the 4th round, possibly the hardest shot he's taken as a pro. he almost always gets aggressive after taking one but in this instance he initiated a clinch and held onto the guys arm. plus, Amari is the only pro to act like he landed a damaging shot and start throwing haymakers.

    - Lara could dance this gig but he doesn't have the chin or defense to sustain it and would get ko'd.... Ward has the best chance to survive today's Golovkin but anyone else 168 and below just gets knocked out for sure. the only middleweight in history i think has a chance of actually winning a fight against him is the Hagler who beat Hearns or Mugabi.

Agree, bobbing and weaving seems to work.

Easiest and most common approach is to just plain duck him.

well i don't believe there are any gods who choose between people, but i guess it couldn't hurt to try.

apparently no one bothered to watch the Amari fight and see how he lasted, as there are no comments regarding it. Murray blocks me on twitter but i sent a link to his promoter. :yep

Exactly. Every time GGG fights, I survive all 12 rounds. And it's all thanks to the simple fact that I wasn't the one in the ring with him. If only guys like Daniel Geale and Marco Rubio had understood that.

If u look at the geale fight that's what he was trying to do but GGG has always said he has got a plan for "runners"...

Very difficult for anyone to survive the distance against Golovkin, power, skills, timing, angles, huge amateur experience, etc.
