Bonavena was 8 months younger than Ali, Quarry 2 years.

Unless you were alive during FOTC, it might be hard to understand just how big it was.

This is easy. The first one because both were under 30 and both were undefeated. They were damaged goods for the others: Foreman had demolished Frazier and Norton busted up Ali, breaking his jaw along the way.

Ali would have destroyed slow wlad and I think frazier as well, since Wlad can“t defend himself if someone puts more than two punches together and attacks him

Absolutely! The anticipation for this event was off the charts like no other sporting event in my lifetime. It was THE news event of the day. It was like the whole world stopped what it was doing to take in this fight.

They were both significant, each in their own way.

TFOTC was the clash of two undefeated champions, even though both fighters were in their prime years, Ali was suffering heavily from ring rust and just coming off a 3.5 year layoff.

In the Thriller in Manila both fighters were past their prime, but they were more evened out (physically). The fight was more brutal and the outcome was harder to predict.

I choose the Thrilla' in Manila.

There is absolutely no question. Not even close. The FOTC was by far the most significant of the three and the best as well. The amount of ink, film, radio, video etc that the FOTC produced is ridiculous. The other two dont even come close. You could make a documentary film on the FOTC that covered every single aspect and lasts 24 hours and never even have to use anything but archival footage and youd still have hours and hours of outtakes.

Not sure how this thread made it to 4 pages when we all know it was the FOTC

FOTC was the most significant battle of the 2 men while the were both at their best form of the trilogy
