According to Dan Rafael. Apparently he's a hefty 200 pounds. Ought to be interesting in his camp in the next coming months losing it.

Kirkland is mentally a train wreck, and that mentality has bled over to ruin his career. exciting fighter but.....

The more I hear about Kirklands condition the less excited I am for this fight.

That being said, even in the current state of affairs (Kirkland out of shape, Kirklands inactivity, Kirkland seeming to not have a trainer or camp lined up) this is still in my top 3 fights for the year.

Still, theres plenty of time til May (its in may right?)

When a fat man in Dan Rafael calls you out on your weight then something is terribly wrong.

Team Canelo probably knew the condition he was in and made the fight asap.

Canelo also gets big between fights. Both fighters should be around 180lbs to cut to 155 but 200lbs means it's going to be a difficult cut which is certainly possible to do when you have enough time but hard to do without being "weight drained".

It all depends on how much time Kirkland has to make the cut. 12 weeks would be enough for sure but 6 weeks would mean a dehydrated weigh in.

He can lose 10lbs a month safely. How much time does he have?

I'm already less excited for this fight than Angulo. They should cancel it.

When this fight was announced I said the timing is perfect for Canelo to face him (being realistic to the idea of "protecting" Canelo, which isn't what they have done given his last 4 opponents).

Kirkland has no trainer. He's fought once in like 2 years. And apparently he is more out of shape then the usual out-of-training boxer is.

I will say that people are naive to "walk around weights." I guarantee most junior middleweights balloon up to 180 between fights. Especially given Kirklands' layoff.

It's still not a bad fight for Canelo because it is one that his haters have claimed he would never take and would certainly lose for about 3 years now. I just can't help but feel that facing and beating even K9 Bundrage means significantly more, though.
