Come on now he JUST won the belt. Not signing the contract right now and thinking what direction to take his career too right now is not so strange.

10 million is a lot. But a fight with Fury will make him good money as well. It will also generate more publicity for him and generate therefore even more money. That effect will continue in the long haul.

I would much rather see him face Fury. If he beats Fury and then fights W.Klitschko he will end up with way more money and a bigger name for himself.

The only reason I can think of Wilder not taking the $10 million is that he thinks he can get more if he allows Povetkin to become his mandatory and force a purse bid where he as the champion would get the bigger share of the purse.

$10 million is more than he would get for fighting Wlad, Fury or Haye and it would take him several defences against safe opposition to earn as much and he won't get that chance to defend against that many voluntary's because the WBC will force a voluntary before that.

So it must be the idea he can get more on purse bids. Problem with that is it relies on Povetkin's promoter over paying like he did to get the Wlad fight in Russia. As mandatory Povetkin is guaranteed a shot so there is no need to make a ludicrously high bid to ensure the fight is made and there is no way Wilders promoters will throw millions away on making a huge bid. Povetkin's promoter could throw in a $10 million bid and still win the purse bids and get a title shot for less.

Not sure he will make 10 mil for a Klitschko fight though.....Povetkin can offer the insane money because he has a rich backer that will put up the money.

I dunno, which Povetkin would we see.. the one who was dismantled by Wlad.. the one who arguably lost to Marco Huck?

Or the destroyer who took down Takram, Chambers, Charr, etc...

We've seen Povetkin struggle against a big athletic guy and a pressure smaller guy.

I don't think a Wilder win is a foreseen conclusion.

Besides, let the dude enjoy winning the title for a bit.

It's not like that $10 mil won't be on the table a few more weeks from now... he just won.. he's still just enjoying that.. there's time to make all the other **** happen.

for Wilder to get 10mil from a purse bid the bid would have to be 15 mil. Not sure if someone would bid that much??

Everyone needs to calm down. Just like one poster stated. He has only had the title for two weeks. 10 million is nice and I get it, he only got paid 1 million for the title. He is American and with a belt and now in demand. I believe he should fight Fury. With Fury, he will make much more. Just give it more time than just two weeks. ESB does not change. Just say he beats both Fury and Povetkin and says no to just say Arreola, "Oh, I told you, he is a ducker". My apologies, not all posters are like this.

That fight would have to be in a different venue for me to watch it. It was painful watching Klitschko/Povetkin and I'm in no rush to go through that again.

As another poster already said, Wilder beats Povetkin and should take the fight.

Personally, I want to see Wilder vs Fury above all others.

Why do you think he would make much more against Fury? Fury isn't a draw at all in the UK so he brings very little to the pot. He made a rumoured £300K for the rematch with Chisora.

The viewing figures for Stiverne/Wilder were good but not good enough to think a PPV is a possibility for Wilder's next fight. If Wilder makes $2 million against Fury I would be surprised he may not get anywhere near that. If HBO are only willing to offer Wlad $3 million for Jennings and him then Wilder won't get offered more to fight Fury.

Even against Wlad he is unlikely to make anywhere near $10 million. Most purse bids for Wlad's mandatory defences range from $7-8 million, even if Wlad offers him 50% hell be lucky to get $4 million against Wlad, even with HBO money that may only add an extra $3-5 million to the whole pot.

It wasn't a draw because he was fighting Chisora who he had already beaten once.

Wilder vs Fury would be a very big deal if promoted properly. A giant gypsy born of a bare-knuckle fighting culture and is named after a heavyweight destroyer Vs an American Hw hope that medaled at the Olympics and has an almost perfect KO record. He became a boxer to make ends meet due to his daughter's medical condition.

This could be a very rich prize fight.:hey

I'd forget about Fury and go straight for Povetkin for that kind of money. $10m is crazy - that's some offer you can't refuse sh!t. He should take that and if he comes through, the Wlad fight will still be there.

Let Wlad fight Jennings and Fury while you make a phenomenal payday.

Russian fans. TBH, I like Povetkin, but I dislike his country which brutally attacks my homeland Ukraine now. Both are post-soviet countries, but enemies now.

As for fight, I'd like to see Povetkin-Wilder, of Fury - Wilder in the late 2015.

Wilder wouldn't make anything like this for losing to Klitschko. Taking this fight for this money should be a no-brainer.

Yet that was one of Fury's biggest Purses to date. Most he has ever made was $1.5 million against Steve Cunningham and that included US and UK TV money. Fury isn't Haye, he doesn't make multi-million dollar purses he's really only known among hardcore fans. The few casual fans in the UK who know who Fury is know him as the guy that punched himself in the face.

The fight isn't PPV in the US no matter how they promote it. Even if Sky/Boxnation in the UK decides it's PPV because it's a title fight it will not bring in anywhere close to $10 million. HBO won't offer more than the $3 million they did for Wlad/Jennings so the combined purse from the UK and US will unlikely be close to $10 million Wilder has been supposedly offered.

Povetkin will KO him, no problem fight for Sasha.
But i dont think Wilder is ducking him, atleast not now. Its just that his promoter speak s***. He just try to bring the interest to Wilder. And try to make his honorars bigger.
So if Wilder manager say he could fight some tomato can for 50million, you going to believe him?
I didnt see a single world from Povetkin team ...
