If the fight happens. Floyd will beat the Midget inside, outside. Every which way. He will ensure that PAC earns his money.

Probably not. Floyds a student of the game, and I'm sure he recognizes the magnitude of this fight and how it will help his overall legacy. I've always felt he produces his best performances on the biggest of stages, but in this fight I can see him being very reserved and staying on his back foot most of the night while keeping pacman at bay with his jab at the center of the ring.

Why take any chances? However pacmans style might actually end up getting him knocked out in there. He has a tendency to lunge in when he begins his combination punching with that lead left, almost always exposing him for a lead right pull counter or a right overhand, 2 punches that Floyd throws better than anyone in the sport today.

It's the punches that you don't see coming that usually hurts you the most. Floyd might not have the biggest power at WW, But pacman is not a large WW himself. I could see pacman getting frustrated by the mid rounds that Floyd won't engage him and that's when I could see manny start to become a little sloppy when he tries to force his aggressive style on Floyd.

I never liked this matchup for manny. Floyds naturally bigger than him, has a 5 inch reach advantage, and his style as a master defensive boxer and counterpuncher is the complete antithesis of Manny's come forward aggressive style. It's a bull vs matador type of situation.

floyds a pot shorter though, and doesn't tend to throw punches in bunches too often
he is more a lead right hand, and move fighter, or try to counter a bit

personally i see floyd getting busy and probably having a hand injury

the more i think about this, the less i see Mayweather winning by decision. Again, only 1 guy has beaten Pacquiao by decision - Morales. Pac later KO's him on two subsequent fights. You need to KO pac to beat him or in the cace of Bradley, have judges award you a win by terrible decision.

Pacquiao is not troubled by defensive counter-punching fighters. He pretty much owned Clottey, Bradley, Algieri and other defensive fighters. It's nearly impossible to outpoint, he's too fast and throws too many different punches from all angles. Floyd WILL get hit and OFTEN if he exchanges blows with Manny and Manny can hurt him.

I see this fight going in different directions, depending on how floyd fights

    1. Floyd fights conservatively, runs from Manny and tries to out punch him. FLOYD LOSES BY DECISION and fight is boring. Paquiao simply outworks and outpunches him, neither hurts one another. Mayweather ends with more accuracy % but Pac with more punches landed

    2. Floyd fights more aggressively than usual. Here things get more interesting. Floyd will risk getting hit but he increases his chances of KO'ing Pacquiao. Pacquiao can get a bit reckless at times and i think he will bring the dog in him for this fight;Floyd could potentially connect, hurt Pac and win by TKO. At the same time, Pacquiao will have more chances to hurt Floyd as floyd will be taking more risks so Pac has a better chance of hurting Floyd too. This would be a more entertaining fight and i would put it at 50/50, depending on who hurts the other first.

I'm afraid of #1 where Floyd will run and run and look to counter. I would be disappointed with the fight but at least i think my man has a better chance of winning, Pacquiao. I just don't see Floyd winning by fighting too defensively...

Anybody that still says Floyd is a runner probably has a rudimentary understanding of the sport.

He's a a master boxer, not a one punch ko artist. He doesn't run in the ring, rather he just utilizes every square foot in that ring to his advantage and knows how to frustrate his opponents accordingly with his sharp defense.

I'd love to hear someone tell me in what fight in mayweathers illustrious career that he was actually running away from his opponent, almost too scared to engage?? He just doesn't throw his combinations as frequently as he did in the lighter weights and there a a simple reason for that- he's a guy who has been fighting out of his prime for the last ten years (he's a a natural JWW for the past ten years,) literally a guy who has been campaigning at his 4th and 5th weight classes for a decade now.

If guys like Hearns and Leonard who were known for their power weren't knocking guys out at SMW and LHW, weight divisions that were about 4 classes up from where they originally started their careers, why would anyone expect Floyd to be taking guys out at 147 or 54 at the twilight stage in his career?

I think most people forget just how good this kid was offensively when he fought between 130-140. Back than, he could take more risks and mix it up a lot more in the pocket than he currently does.

IF and a big IF Mayweather sits on his punches he WILL knock Pacquiao out in the same manner he did Glass Jawed Ricky Hatton.

Pacquiao's Chin has been Shattered and his has no confidence in it and neither do his Team hence the ridiculous feather fisted handpicked opposition he has been fighting.

Right because Manny and Hatton have the same chin :patsch

How was his jaw shattered ? It took the guy 4 tries to knock him out honestly you are no expert on chins your same ole song is getting old .

@rico ^ I don't think he'll sit on his punches to be honest unless he sees pacman do a little chicken dance from getting stunned by a precise counterpunch.

That's really what differentiates Mayweather with Marquez. JMM had no problem sitting down on his combination punches right in the pocket after he stunned pacman with a counter.

I think Floyd would avoid those potential showdowns inside the pocket with pacman and just use his footwork to keep himself at a good distance after he nails him with a counter. He'll probably Try to minimize the amount of damage he can get inflicted by.

Hope you are right bro... I see a competitive fight, but a ud or maybe even an sd floyd. But what you are saying makes sense, but floyd is another level defensively than clotted and even Bradley. I hope he doesn't ru. And counter as well either, not the entire fight anyway.

The big question I have is will Floyd's lead right hand that he has used so effectively on orthodox fighters will it work and be effective on a southpaw :think

Also the short leaping left hook he used to knock down Marquez IF Floyd can land those 2 punches with success Pacquiao will be getting KOed. Sounds bizarre but it can happen. Especially the lead right hand he fires it off fast and by the time they see it coming it is too late to move out of the way.
