Who won Trinidad-De La Hoya?

True stats alone do not prove a thing, but they can highlight certain points but as a tool themselves do nothing.

Even not knowing the stats I can't see how anyone thought Tito won. If you give every close round to Tito he maybe wins 5 rounds.

To give him a draw you have to go out of your way to give him extra rounds and ignore the fact Tito's punches were not as clean or as hard or as numerous.

If someone views it with the opinion that Tito being the supposedly bigger puncher that a glancing shot from him is superior to a couple of flush Oscar power punches and that a single good shot from Tito can over turn 2 min 50 seconds of being out boxed and out punched then I can see how someone scored for Tito. But that's a biased view, showing a clear favouritism towards a puncher whether that power had any effect or not. Power only matters if it can be delivered and even if it can be delivered if that opponents doesn't flinch at your power and hits back with equally clean shots then those shots must be viewed as equal.

I don't think tito won that fight, but I also think that Oscar allowed the 'window of opportunity' to open, which subsequently led to the loss
considering Oscar lost all the biggest fights of his career, and considering how he seemed to be coasting in this fight, it's a pretty damning statistic

 

There's no question Ole Fish nets would have got knocked out in the rematch. De la Hoya Trinidad was Tito's final fight @ 147 and it was no secret Trinidad was having issues making weight. @ 154, Trinidad would have finished de la Hoya within the distance...

 

Trinidad was a head hunter and Oscar was as granite chinned as they come...
it's very dismissive (and unlikely) that tito - Oscar 2 wouldn't have gone the distance

This isn't amateur boxing. Running away and landing little pitty pat punches while your opponent chases after you trying to engage does NOT win rounds in the *professional* ranks.
