because it doesn't matter. if you have real power then the glove brand doesn't matter.

 

some don't like the way they feel and need the small amount of extra padding for hand issues

but new balance being better for the pounding and grind of running I used to run like a blur ( 5k) and would train by embracing the pain but was getting sore Achilles tendons. I switched to new balance and, the pain went away. I was fast anyway, so switching to the supposed slower brand made no difference.

 

some guys (pac and marquez for instance) like to feel their knuckles making contact and INSIST on it….others don't..probably cause they've busted a knuckle in the past. Kelly Pavlik didn't like too little padding when making contact.

Some guys like the horsehair when they are young, but as they age the hands become more brittle from the training and fights. Tommy hearns switched over late in his career.

Some punchers have sponsorships from Grant.

And some guys like Canelo seemingly don't care at all - he's constantly going through a mixture of Everlasts, cleto's and Grants. I think he agrees to wear the gloves of whoever sponsors the individual bout.

^Exactly. If you have a true eraser punch then it doesn't really matter what gloves you have on. Those knuckles repeatedly ripping you over the rounds will feel a lot worse in cleto's!

 

Lets see the hand are not meant for hitting and Cleto Reyes offer little protection of the hands. Tommy Hearns, and Floyd use to use Reyes gloves all the time.. But as you can see both fighter hands became as brittle as Krakers over time.

In short Reye may make an exciting fight but it shortens the life span of a fighter hands.

 

Because glove brand doesnt matter. If you ca punch then you ca punch. Its all psychological and in the fighter's head.

Some people claim the only difference between Grant and Cleto Reyes are cosmetic, i.e. tags/ logos besides that they look and feel the same---don't know firsthand though.:think

 

It really depends on the construction of the glove. Reyes are punchers gloves, but in my experience, they can be quite hard and stiff on the hands and brand new, closing your hand can be difficult which is why it takes a while to break in. At least the training velcro strap model which seems to be fuller than the much more streamline lace up version. I could be wrong. Grant are compact but not as stiff as the Reyes. It's easier to close your hand and are quite a narrow glove in the area where your knuckles are. Some of the Everlast models are squishy and unsteady around the wrist and are terrible for someone who can punch. The better models make it easier to close your hand into a fist including the MX and are far more stable. I wish all gloves were made like Fighting though.
