Solo Boxeo: Francisco Rodriguez Jr. vs. Jomar Fajardo II RBR

Kind of a harsh deduction but that also would have been a knockdown if not for the semi-cheap move of grabbing Rodriguez to bring him along for the ride, so it kind of balanced out as the end result is a 10-8 round anyway.

 

Round 3

Rodriguez is jabbing and walking forward confidently, stepping to either side as needed to cut the ring off as Fajardo bounces around the perimeter. Fajardo dives in with light rights on the body and Rodriguez is quick to fold himself up, butt sticking out behind him, gut sucked in. Rodriguez is ducking Fajardo's jabs and landing his. Rodriguez uses the right glove to parry, throwing short punches into Fajardo's jab to scramble it. Rodriguez is bobbing and weaving in, getting into a nice forward-moving counter-punching rhythm, punishing Fajardo when he jabs and forcing him to back up clumsily under a steady flow of rights speared into his ribs.

Round 4

Rodriguez is throwing long left hooks at the body. Fajardo is sqatting low to prevent them. Low blow by Rodriguez. Warned. Fajardo rolls a right hand over Rodriguez's spine. Rodriguez is playing cat and mouse now, tapping Fajardo with light rights on the body and dancing away out of reach when Fajardo retaliates. Rodriguez is pumping in left hooks above the waistband. Fajardo doesn't like them. Fajardo pulls Rodriguez into a clinch. Fajardo bangs a right uppercut into Fajardo's chest, swerving into it. Rodriguez is mowing Fajardo down, using his left elbow and bicep to spur him on. Heavy body shots by Fajardo, desperate to grind Rodriguez to a halt, but unable.

It's as though Fajardo was extremely puzzling to him over their first eleven rounds together (between November and tonight) and then suddenly it all just 'clicked' and he's got him all figured out, dead to rights.

 

Holy ****.

 

Round 5

Rodriguez is galloping in, legs kept apart with medium spacing, throwing jabs and feints and making Fajardo rock back and forth just in anticipation, without any blows landing. Rodriguez is moving freely about, keeping his guard up to send Fajardo's nervous jabs skimming up and off into the void of harmlessness. Fajardo is jittery, unable to get any timing down with Rodriguez's in-and-out dancing and sparsity of attacks (and crispness when he does counter, mixing up nicely to head and body)
