Poor guy, it's a shame when fighters are forced to carry on just to make a living.

it sounds like his ego has taken a hit, which shouldn't be a problem with the benefit of life experience
fame can be a curse if you think "being recognized" is key to happiness

it's such a shame that the 'success' that we preach in schools is all material-based/physical, because that isn't real life

I'm glad he's finally realizing it because not only is he embarrassing himself, but also the sport itself by being allowed to fight under the obvious conditions he's in. I really hope he's serious and permanently retires than risk serious injuries.

Sad stuff, he loves his daughters so much that he'll swallow his pride and embarrass himself. You can't say anything bad about that.

I hope he finds another opportunity to provide for his family without sacrificing his health in the process.

And I hope his daughters don't waste this opportunity that their dad is giving to them.

I never liked Williams as a fighter but you never want to see a fighter end up fighting too long, he's basically getting beaten up to make ends meet. Whatever he has planned I hope it comes off and makes him enough not to have to keep fighting.

His ego has taken a hit? You don't know what you're talking about, Williams has always been a very humble guy. He wasn't complaining about not being recognized anymore, you totally missed the point. I wonder how you'd feel if the only way to support your family was to fly around the world getting beaten up. Save your preachy BS

At least he knows... I like Williams but he has became a joke, the guy needs to retire now otherwise he isn't going to see his daughters finish school, the guy will have brain damage.

Anyway I heard he chopped the beard now.

Not a lot. He was supposed to make $250,000 against Tyson but the promoter Chris Webb only ever paid him $70,000 saying he was broke. Williams promoter Frank W.arren paid him the rest out of his own pocket and sued Webb to recoup costs.

Williams only made $300,000 when he challenged Vitali so I doubt after taxes and training costs he ever made much despite the high profile nature of some of his fights.
