For those looking for a source. One of Wilder's managers Shelly Finkel confirms there is an option to fight Povetkin in Russia but Wilder is not ready, wants some home defences to get Wilder more experience. So it looks like it's a genuine offer that has been made. See link below from the scene. http://www.***********.com/wilder-not-rushed-klitschko-says-finkel--86714
what mando? he's never been champ. $10m would be more than enough to secure his daughter's future, as well as more than he'll get elsewhere. it ain't only boxing he's cheating.
My reply was based on the Tua comparison. Had Tua won a title from Byrd or Ruiz or whichever other lesser titlist from the late 90s, his would be no more valid than that of Potvetkin winning the newly created paper WBA belt. Lewis was the CHAMPION, even though he threw a few belts away to avoid SPs.:good
How was Lewis not a draw? Lewis had made $9.2 million against Tucker way back in 93. Lewis made $15 million against Evander in his fight before Grant. Lewis may not have been in Tyson's League but he was a big enough draw to make way more money than Wilder or Fury can. Even before Lewis beat Holyfield he was making $4 million against Golota and Briggs so even as a mere titlist he was a far bigger draw than Fury or Wilder are now, especially if you factor in that Lewis was making this over a decade ago. If Wilder and Fury are so charismatic why are they earning so little. Wilder made only a million against Stiverne and Fury isn't doing much better. No way Wilder can make $10 million in a single fight or even 2 fights before his mandatory is enforced.
He was the WBA regular world champion which really isn't a world title, it's the worst of all the paper titles. In reality the regular WBA title is the equivalent of the WBA intercontinental title before this super champion c.rap.
Actually it's the "Super" title that's relatively recently created, not the regular one. But anyway, I agree that it's a paper belt (but again, so is the WBC at the moment).
wilder has been inactive for a whole two weeks now, why the **** hasn't this still developing fighter been thrown into the ring against someone much better and more experienced? two whole weeks, he may as well just admit he never wants another fight and is retired. bunch of fuking re****s.
Nope reg champs don't count. It's like nabf was in the 80s Just a stepping stone belt but with a fancier name. It's not like wlad shared the wba title with him.
Wilder is going to be facing hand picked opposition at home in Murica to build his phony brand. Do not expect him in a big or threatening fight for a while. Look what happened to him the last time he fought in Russia as an amateur. I am sure his team has zero intention of sending him over there as a pro. Same goes with fighting Fury in the U.K. It will be nothing but handpicked, homemade fights for a while as this guy's phony brand is stoked by the fires of grift and deception.
You really don't see the fury fight happening? Maybe not in the UK but I definitely think it will happen. Both fighters seemed interested in this one.
