So when the referee gestures to keep the punches up after a clean body punch, does that take away the credit of those punches when scoring the round? One could even see a situation were an incorrect ruling of a low blow taking away series of scoring punches.

thats a good question. though i do remember when bayless called a knockdown on pac in the mosley fight (which was the clearest push to everyone else) i think 2 of the 3 judges did not even score the knockdown

I think Naz was the only person to take it positively.

There are a lot of boxers these days wearing their shorts around their chest. Makes it a hard call at times for the referee as to whether a blow is legal or not.

This just reminded me of the Khan KO over Judah.
The referee said that any punch on the shorts would be called low.
And then Khan hits him on that belt line and gets credited a KO

If i remember correctly, Lederman pointed out that its a gray area and in a stupid way.

    Boxing

I've seen a few fights end with a blow below the belt on the shorts. But in some instances because the shorts are so high up it is probably quite understandable.

i watched that fight at the pub, replays from every angle show it was on the belt line and did not look low, isnt the ref instructed that anything BELOW the belt line is illegal ?

No, not really. In Khan vs Judah the referee instructed that anything from the belt line and lower would be concidered a low blow.

Judah was bent over when the shot landed.
