They want it to play out tournament style this is awesome! What are some possible tournament matchups that you are excited for?
With the fractured nature of the sport. it's hard to see how this becomes a reality. I'd settle with just 1 champion per body per division.
there scared now, there future is under threat now. Haymon doesn't like them or need them. With boxing going on free to air tv and basic cable, he mite just cut them out of the whole thing.
Would be nice if they could create a single unified champion in all divisions but the logistics of it will be hard, boxing is such a fractured sport. Any details on what they have planned, will we see a Super 6 like tournament across the divisions or will they simply force champions to fight each other or be stripped? Will this be a one off or can we expect regular tournaments? Perhaps every 4 years like the Olympics or World cup, that would be great. Perhaps all fighters are stripped of their titles every 4 years and all the top contenders have to face off to decide a new champion. In other sports when athletes win a world title they only hold that title until the next world championships, why not the same in boxing? Would see an end to a lot of ducking, would ensure there is a unified champion every 4 years and may increase popularity of the sport.
Can you please explain how or why they would be scared of Haymon and how it has to do with the belts?
They were scared of AIBA starting their pro league, not weird Al Haymovich. AIBA has the national unions behind them, and has the potential to completely render the alphabelts absolete. Knowing the way they themselves only harm the sport and don't have much sympathy from the fans, decided to start cleaning up their act.
