I advocated Andy v Quillin as the best thing for Andy, and I still believe that...although I only give Andy a 25% chance of retaining his title. Even losing his title Andy comes out ahead I reckon. But....but I'm torn to be honest ...looking at the big picture, I would prefer the title to remain this side of the pond. For the sake of fellas like Andy, Spike, BJs, Blackwell etc etc for the sake of us fans ...and even future guys like Keeler etc it would be better if there was a title in Brirish hands.
Theres always the chance Andy might .....just might...ko Quillin. (That would be 3 "Hail Marys" in a row!)
Covering all angles as always Len, just come out and pick a result and stop saying both could win ffs grow a set will ye, any boxer could land a lucky punch but if he knocks 3 decent operators out in a row I dont think it can be classed as luck any more.
Testing opponent named for Phil Sutcliffe Jr By irishboxing | on February 2, 2015 | Phil Sutcliffe Jr is ready to ditch the novice pro label and move up a level starting February 20. Manager Pat Magee is keen to see his light welterweight progress up the rankings and has brought in a test for his charge for the Red Cow hosted fight night. Southpaw Terry Needham, a fighter with a 7-1 record and a solid amateur background will man the opposite corner as the big punching former Irish amateur looks to extend his record to 7-0. Magee is also looking for a test for his cruiserweight puncher Big Tommy McCarthy, but has yet to confirm a February 20 foe. Undefeated Paul Drago, who holds a win over Ian Tims, was approached about a fight, but his coach is away with Martin Murray in Monaco and wouldnt allow Drago to fight in Ireland without his guidance. Both fighters need tests now, Magee told Irish-boxing.com. They are out of the learning stage and ready to progress. This is a good test for Phillip, six rounds with a fighter with a winning record. We wanted Paul Drago for Tommy, he won the weekend, but his coach wouldnt allow him come to Ireland without him. Magee also confirmed Sean Turner, who is currently sparing with Tyson Fury, will make a step up in class and face a test of his own
You're right Moorser. What was I thinking? The only way Andy gets 3 Hail Marys in a row is if he goes to confession! Anyway it is looking more and more like Andy v Quillin is off. It would've been a nice earner for .ndy ....but at a price. Which means one way or the other the title stays over here, and that can only be good right? :hat
Won the purse bids, yes...but he won't enforce the Euro fight, he'll just hold it off, if he can get Andy Lee. The Euro fight is just insurance. I reckon the one they really want is Andy. Be madness to risk Andy losing the title to Quillin, then have to chase Quillin to America. Especially when BJS relies totally on winning on points. Just my 2 cents worth.....
I must be psychic. Di bella just said he reckons the matter will be resolved withi 48 hours. That would suggest Lee-Quillin is back on...???
Sorry jonny i will do it in future. what is magees long term plan for his promotions in Dublin, or is this a one off???
