    1. Can anyone confirm that Roy Jones Jrs team tried to negotiate a fight with Dariusz Michalczewski, but it fell apart because Michalczewski refused to fight in USA? Are there any source stating this?

    2. Can anyone confirm that Michalczewski stated he would fight Jones Jr in the states? Are there any source stating this?

This seem to be the core questions. If they can not be sorted out, the only possible way may be to approach people within the industry and interviw them. Hardly impossible.

Kovalev never had the experience of being robbed of an olympic gold medal in the most grotesque example of corruption in the history of the sport.

As I understand it, despite the enormous size of his b*llcks, Kovalev couldn't get past Matt Korobov a fighter that Roy Jones would have made look like Park Si Hun any day of the week.

How did you come up with this order? I think Michalczewski is right at #1, but Tarver seems way to low. Where would you place Harding?

I was kind of looking at it like this:

    -DM #1
-Rocchigiani has to be just behind him bc they went neck and neck, he may have been robbed, and he beat Nunn.
-Nunn right behind him because it was close and Nunn was Roy's mandatory.
-Griffin next because he had 2 wins over Toney (questionable) and a win over Jones. Only applies to around the time Jones fought him.
-Tarver lost to Harding when they were both raw and on the way up, then he stopped him. Turned out Tarver was the better fighter and accomplished more so I gave Tarver the spot. Harding would be next imo and Glen Johnson behind him.

    Sounds about right:

Jones: "More than likely I should be able to. With no problem. Michalczewaski would be harder. I would have to be in good shape. Rocchigiani just covers up. I can hit both of them at will. Michalczewski, I can hit him at will. No fighter alive can allow me to hit them at will and expect to do well. Rocchigiani, he just likes to cover-up and look for one shot hoping I punch myself out. That's not gonna happen."

Asking why Jones never fought Rocchigiani is like those people who ask why Lewis "ducked" John Ruiz.

Who cares?? No one cared about those fights at the time, let alone now

That is fine and I tend to agree with that lone example but do you seriously think people cared about seeing Jones fight Grant, Frazier, Hall, and Kelly? His own network openly mocked those fights and Merchant had to apologize at the end of the broadcast since it was so bad. When have we ever seen that before?

Replace them with who? Those were all Top 5 guys :rofl

You are a strange individual. Nobody in their right mind would complain about Jones fighting Benn, Collins, or Eubank. Do you even realize the diarrhea you type on the keyboard. :rofl

I look forward to you trying to dispute this my friend.

On 13 June 1997, he defeated Virgil Hill over 12 rounds to add Hill's Lineal, WBA, & IBF titles to his own. However, Michalczewski soon lost both alphabet titles. The WBA immediately stripped him for displaying its belt along with that of the WBO, an organization it didn't recognize. Michalczewski was then forced to relinquish the IBF title when he was unable to defend the title in a court-ordered defense against mandatory challenger William Guthrie within a little over a month after the bout with Hill.

After beating Hill, Michalczewski knocked out 14 consecutive opponents, all in defense of his Lineal/WBO titles. In 1998, he defeated Drake Thadzi, in 1999 he defeated Montel Griffin, and in 2000 he defeated Graciano Rocchigiani.

Darius would attempt for six years to secure a bout with his American counterpart, Roy Jones Jr, without success. After his titles were stripped from Dariusz, Jones would win Michalczewski's belts and spuriously declare himself "undisputed world champion". Jones steadfastly refused all offers for a lucrative fight with Darius and even made an attempt to ban the mention of Michalczewski's name on his home network, HBO. Seth Abraham, president and CEO of HBO, refused Jones demand and in 2002 a fan poll showed that the fight fans most wanted to see was Darius Michalczewski vs Roy Jones Jr. Jones continued to refuse offers for the fight however. One of his motivations may have been due to the fact that the offers were for the fight to be held in Europe, where Jones feared he could only win by a knockout.

Whether Jones was the best " fighter " in the world or not at that time is merely a matter of opinion, and irrelevant. He obviously wasn't the best L / Heavy though was he? Otherwise he would have held the 3 belts and not Dariusz.

It is the usual bulls&$t about being robbed in the ama's.

    Are you actually sane?

Hatton went to America for the Mayweather fight for the dollars. PPV dollars. Britain would NEVER have raised that amount of PPV sales money for that fight, no matter who Hatton fought.

He simply used the Murican public to get his percentage of the sales, knowing the fight would be bought in the 100's of thousands, at 50 dollars a pop, as opposed to less than 30 dollars English money.

    Totally and utterly wrong.

DM did NOT demand 12 million to go to the US and fight Jones. The Floridian on the other hand DID demand 12 million ( complete idiocy ) to go to Germany, proving he had less than NO intention of doing so.

See above post, for an unbiased towards Jones Jr take on the matter.

I think the simple problem here is that you tend to take everything Muricans say ( particularly if they are in any way shape or form connected to Jones ) as gospel.

Whereas I consider them natural born liars who need to work exceptionally hard to convince me they even know the meaning of truth, much less their ability to communicate it.

For the money or did he want to fight the best fighter p4p ?

And you honestly think if that fight was held in great Britian it would have not done huge numbers ? The live gate alone would have been huge !
