    Pure frustration, and nothing else.

But they were happy with his fights against Reggie, Telesco, Hall, Gonzalez. They didn't want him to fight Woods, but were obviously happy with Ruiz and Tarver.

But just look at things logically for a moment, without being biased. Roy beat decent fighters with ease. When that happened, every fan then demanded that he fought the best competition out there. Which was only natural. They wanted to see him tested. But when those big fights didn't happen for whatever reason, people were even more frustrated. And when those big fights didn't happen while he was the unified champ, he had mandatory obligations from three organisations. So you could see why people were pi$$ed. He took a WBC mandatory, made it look like an exhibition, and everyone was angry.

Again, when other fights weren't able to be made, he had to fight the WBA's mandatory. And on it went, until he fought Ruiz and Tarver. But again, efforts were made to fight Dariusz, and a rematch with Bernard. But at times, Roy was too good for his own good. Because if his fights hadn't have been so easy, and they'd have been more competitive, people wouldn't have been as frustrated and upset. Now if you look at where all his opponents were ranked at LHW, he fought pretty much everyone who was relevant, apart from a handful of fighters.

The question is, if fights like Dariusz and Hopkins couldn't be made, what could he have done? What could he have done different?

The only things I can think of, was to either go to CW, (which was an unglamorous division) or move up to HW earlier.

I'm talking about haters like you.

Don't pretend you'd have given Roy credit for beating a faded Nigel Benn or a limited Collins etc?

If Roy had fought different guys, you'd have just found 4/5 other guys who he didn't fight, and the whole process would start again.

    You would never be satisfied.

Can you imagine the hate Roy would have if he had moved up and fought Collins instead of Toney?

Funny how Roid four round KO victim who Roid had beaten with ease didn't need to score a knockout over in Germany to get his hand raised in a close fight against

The most popular German boxer in German boxing history
In the most expensive event in German boxing history
A fighter who was nicknamed ''The Michael Jordan of Germany''
Who was almost worshiped like a god in Germany
Who averaged 17.8m viewers on TV, with a peak at 23m.
Who when he boxed it was ''like a national holiday"
In a fight that ''wasn't broadcast but celebrated''
A fight that was supposed to be ''The German Michael Jordan's'' farewell fight before he rode off into the sunset with his immaculate spotless undefeated record intact after compiling a stellar amateur (Olympic gold, World Amateur Championships gold & silver, and 3 golds at the European championships) and pro career.

How badly do you think they all wanted Maske to win that fight and especially not see him lose, lose his belt, his career defining unification fight, his unbeaten record, again, in the most expensive event in German boxing history? Roid knew this because Hill is the fighter who Dariusz beat to unify the WBO, WBA, and IBF straps way back in 1997.

Funny how Julio Cesar Gonzalez didn't need a KO to get his hand raised over in Germany when he won a close decision over Dariusz in a fight where there was a lot on the line. Had Dariusz been awarded the decision he would've equaled Marciano's long standing record of 49 fights without a loss.

Dariusz was an ''easy fight'' for Roid remember. He ''wouldn't have laid a glove on him.'' Roid wasn't even sure if Dariusz could ''beat the top ranked Americans.'' He could ''beat him and Rocky on the same night.'' lol

    Good points...

But we simply don't know what is inside the mind of a fighter that was robbed of an Olympic gold overseas...

I believe him when he said he thought he would have to KO DM to win.. It may have even been pure paranoia, but I can understand his perspective.

Do you find it possible Griffin handing him his own loss by acting, and watching DM act to get out of a fight might have played into it?

We've both had this debate last year, where we looked at around 5/6 links.

Peter Kohl made an offer to Roy to go to Germany.

    Roy refused.

Then Kerry Davis tried to negotiate with Kohl to bring Dariusz to the U.S. but they were unsuccessful.

Dariusz didn't try and fight Roy for six years. His resume speaks for itself.

What do you mean when you say "He obviously wasn't the best LHW in the world, otherwise he'd have held the three belts and not Dariusz"?

Dariusz held the lightly regarded WBO belt, and simply got to Hill before Roy did. It's as simple as that.

Again, people on here seem to be holding Roy responsible for the way Dariusz was stripped. If Roy hadn't have obtained those belts, somebody else would have done.

At the time of negotiations, Roy had all of the main belts. Now you've just completely ignored that clip I've posted of Dariusz falling to the floor to get Roch DQ'd.

The guy with ALL of the main belts, who'd beaten guys like Hopkins and Toney etc, should not have had to travel to Germany where Dariusz was pulling scams like that, in order to bring home the WBO.

Roy was talking out of his ass. I can think of dozens of other times when he said things even worse than this..

I think he thought it was a huge risk to go to Germany, and wanted too much money.

In my opinion Roy, knew Dariusz would be a tough fighter that he was not going to KO, and feared he wouldn't get the decision in Germany.

    Roy didn't demand anything.

He was pi$$ed because nothing was happening, and he said in an interview "Hell, give me $12 million and I'll go to Germany to beat him."

Roy said on numerous occasions he didn't want to go. He said he'd only go if it was a ridiculous offer.

So don't try and spin it, by saying he priced himself out.

There's numerous links where he said didn't want to go over there. You've just posted a link where it was mentioned.

Whereas Dariusz said he was willing to go to the U.S.

But we know he was all talk, because his resume is there for us all to view at any time.

After talks had broken down completely, Roy approached Evander Holyfield at the end of 2011, just prior to his final fight with John Ruiz. But after the fight was called a draw, Roy dropped his interest, because Ruiz still held the WBA belt. So he remained at LHW, and fought a mandatory in Glen Kelly, in February, 2002. After that fight, efforts were made to try to fight Bernard Hopkins again. When that didn't happen, he fought Woods who was another mandatory, before signing to fight John Ruiz, late in 2002.

    Here's the link regarding Hopkins:

During that same time frame, Dariusz fought Hall x2, Harmon, and De Grandis.

So you're kidding yourself if you think Dariusz really wanted to fight Roy.

    Check out his resume:

    Great debate!

I missed you on the classic.

    This is 100% correct.

But I don't think Ricky chased down Floyd just for a payday.

When you say the "German Michael Jordan" I presume you mean David Hasselhof.

Your mind works in mysterious ways.

What the hell did it have to do with Roy, that Dariusz had been stripped?

You think that Roy should have travelled to Germany, because Dariusz had been stripped four years earlier?

    Ha!

Why have you used Ruiz as examples?

    Those fights were at home.

How is that in any way the same?

Why do you embarrassingly keep repeating the same old nonsense?

When Roy's first HBO contract expired, he signed another one. When the second one expired, he signed another one and received a $500,000 bonus.

He fought on HBO around 30-40 times.

Was James Toney not classed as the number 1 SMW?

He wasn't interested in making better fights?

There's 5 links on the other thread that prove you're talking sh*t.
