Alright so I see a bunch of Mayweather vs. so and so lately, I figured I should contibute. But not against a fighter they have made a 100 threads over. Now I noticed hardly anyone here mentions Napoles some I'm guessing a bunch here don't know who he is or know much about him. Which is a shame because Napoles was one of the absolute best of his era. So how would a stylist/puncher like Napoles do against a highly defensive boxer like Mayweather? And I'm asking the knowledgeable boxing posters who are familiar with his style and fights.

Mayweather knocks him in the later rounds due to accurate punching. Napoles doesn't have the style to bother him. The shoulder rolls would be too much for thi sman.

This just shows how great PBF is. He always has fantasy fighters against ATGs because no current fighter 154 and down has a chance.

Napoles was a great defensive fighter but not as technically sound as PBF. It was almost like he was dancing in the ring, on instinct. Close fight but PBF by UD would be my pick

And so the Mayweather bandwagon is alive and well, even though he lost in a poll regarding the best fighters of this era, to Pac, that doesn't prevent Mayweather fans from labelling him the best ever, no matter who the opponent is.

It's as predictable as it is pathetic.

Prime for prime would take place at 135 lbs.

When Jose first challenged Curtis Cokes for his welterweight championship he was already 60+ fights deep. He essentially had two careers, and shortly after securing Ring Magazine's '69 fighter of the year award he went into decline. It had been a long journey to the top. The bottle became a close friend.

Against the Napoles who struggled with Hedgemon Lewis and made a meal out of Clyde Gray, Mayweather should be favoured. If it's against the guy who blasted out Alfredo Urbina or dissected Cokes, I'd have to favour the slickster from Mexico to out-hustle Floyd with volume. The combinations use to pour out of him.

Furthermore, his chin was a rock. Mayweather would do well to make him grimace.

About time I get a legitimate response. The first two weren't worth the time to even respond to

Why because I didn't pick pbf to lose? Fact is whether you like it or not pbf is a fantastic h2h fighter because he's so complete.:deal. Can fight at all ranges with a high ring iq and atg defense.

If I didn't know any better and just read your posts, I'd think no one actually knew how to box before Floyd can along. Lucky for me we have Youtube and we can for ourselves that boxers have actually existed for many many years.

What was wrong with Ted's response, other than you not liking the outcome?

Actually, I think the reason there are many of these types of threads is because several of his most loyal and also most obsessed fanatics claim him to be TBE or even top 15 P4P, so to create balance they match him in fantasy fights against fighters who would likely beat him, you know, to bring balance to the fanaticism.

I don't really think there are any real hardcore fans who really believe Mayweather would beat the likes of Duran, Leonard, Hearns, and many other ATG who proved themselves by fighting and beating the truly best, no excuses, no crying, no ducking.

Napoles would whip him, better all around skills. Not as good defensively but he's got everything else. I think a major factor would be experience since Napoles had about 40 more fights than Floyd has when he retired. Napoles is used to more styles and knows more ways to win. Napoles has fought slick defensive boxers but nothing in Floyd's past has prepared him for a boxer like Napoles. You aren't equipped to fight a slick master boxer puncher when you've fed on a diet of B level come forward swarmers for years. Floyd's a great boxer but I don't think he solves this puzzle without at least one rematch. If they fought multiple times, then Floyd could make some adjustments, but the first fight would be all Napoles.

I will cut your response a break for the simple fact you suggest it will be close. But if you are not familiar with the body of Napoles' career, take a look. It's worth it
