Possible. However, if he does, the Golov****s can forget about their man ever seeing the P4P #1 spot.

athletes are getting older thanks to sports science, ggg appears to live right, and it's not like he's taking 12 round beatings! he'll be about for a fair few fights yet.

He can't hide @ 160 forever. Eventually he'll have to move up and I don't think his style will translate very well when he's in the ring with a big 168lb'er who knows how to BOX.

According to 50% of the fans globally on Jim Lampley's The Fight Game, GGG is already the P4P king of boxing without facing 1 A type fighter in the world yet. Is there any A type fighters in the 160 lb division? No.so It's either wait for guys from 154 to move up, or it's move up to 168 and test the water there. Either way it's gonna be a waiting game, and I'm not sure GGG has time to waste. He needs to try and pursue a marquee fight before whatever prime he has gets wasted.

But to answer the question, he is one of the most hyped boxers today. Will he live upto the expectations of being touted by his fan's as "GOLOVGOD"? Time will only tell.

Is GGG even known to casual fans? Hardly. Is he widely considered by boxing fans to be the consensus best MW at the moment? Sure.

That's hardly what you would call being celebrated in Tyson-like proportions. Adrian Broner was hyped bigger on this forum. So was Sergio Martinez. Let's keep things in perspective.

Kovalev would put Ward on ice at 175lbs. Kovalev will be the p4p king.

My father is 60, he was a good amateur he won the Pacific NW Golden Gloves and beat the Canadian National champ when he was 16 (the other guy was 26!) He fought Dale Grant who beat Hagler at nationals if that even matters...

Anyway he has been a boxing coach for many years (coached a few national champs) and loves to study tape. He claims Golovkin has the most efficient offense of any fighter he has ever witnessed, he says there isn't a defense out there that can defend against it because nobody around his weight is fast enough to not get caught by his setups. The only way he said you could out score Golovkin is if you where faster than Khan. The power doesn't impress him that much as he says others have shown that, and there will always be a guy that can take anyone's shots.

His big thing with Golovkin is that he combines talents from a few of the great fighters to produce an all new style, and implements it with absolute confidence.

My father says nobody is unbeatable, but Golovkin presents the most difficult fight there has ever been in the MW division. When a big Hagler fan like him says hagler would Only have a punchers chance - I listen!

I agree with this. He is actually in his prime now and in 2 yrs some of the magic will have faded away. I wouldn't be surprised if Andre Ward is just having "promoter issues" because he is trying to stay out of the mix until he can catch Golovkin on the downhill.

Quality post. ALthough I don't think anyone would need to be as fast as Amir Khan to out point him. But I want to see Gennady fight someone like Ward, who I think may be ducking him... But we will see.
