I think Ward is too smart to take that fight if he can avoid it, Kovalev would be a much better style for Ward, and he would take home all the glory he needs from that fight because Sergey is a little overrated.

I don't think Ward stands up to Kovalev's power for 12 rounds.
Kov can box and has the ability to set up and land his power punches, just like GGG.
I think Kovalev might be a more devastating puncher though.

Golovkin is the best middleweight in the world today. He has been fighting the best middleweights out there, he will fight any middleweight who will fight him. Quillin is afraid of him and so is Cotto. He offered to fight Mayweather at 154, but Void refused.........Golovkin would knock Alvarez out also...........or Chavez, Jr., but Chavez will fight Froch.............

I don't think that Kovalev is the boxer that Golovkin is but Kovalev has a better chance to beat Ward than Golovkin

Size is very important to be able to beat Ward imo

Golovkin is underrated. I have seen him considered as not even the most feared fighter today (wrongly considered less feared than Gonzalez today) I see him being compared to Kovalev when he is much better and more proven than Kovalev and even made Kovalev back up in sparring. Kovalev was stopped as an amateur, Golovkin was never even floored and is in fact unbeaten including his amateur career. Golovkin is TBE @ fighting men near own weight @ any weight. He is more dominant in his weight than: Duran, Hagler, Sanchez, Carbajal, McCallum, Mosley and Froch ever were. Duran had 2 cheat against Buchanan and while his loss 2 Dejesus was @ 140, they both were 135lbers and Duran was in fact both bigger and had more left in him. Duran was also decked @ 135 strict. Golovkin never was. Golovkin's opposition @ 160 is h2h/effectively better than Monzon's was and at least as good as Hagler's was. He is a clean fighter and is more destructive than the rest of the names I mentioned with only Duran coming close in this department. Hagler had 2 cheat too (thumbed Roldan, butted Hearns and I bet there is more), Golovkin did not. The Golovkin hype is not big enough.

Triple GGG is the REAL deal. If Martin Murray survives 5 rounds, I'll be very surprised. He punches going forward with classy weight shifting. Murray is a pusher & mainly hits going back. Murray? Not in the same division!! Merely a survival trial for Murray, with another payday.

Yes, IMO ward decisions Ggg and loses to kovalev. Size certainly does matter when we are talking about elite vs elite.

With respect to your father, saying that Hagler only has a 'punchers chance' against Golovkin is just downright ridiculous.

Legit hype but somewhat untested because he's being ducked like a plague.

G3, is the real deal. Smart, deadly power, tough chin, tough mind. Rare combination not frequently seen.

The only thing I will say about Kovalev is anyone who is endorsed by Tula Ammo is someone not to be messed with. To say that he is dangerous is an understatement. He is the Grimm Reaper of his day and weight class. If you challenge him, you will regret it.

I disagree, I think balance and ability to carry a low center of gravity are keys to beating Ward.

While Ward is certainly a strong dude, he bullies people with leverage not brute force. Particularly tall guys with average balance. His ability to duck and weave really low while bull rushing also causes people problems.

If you can deal with those two (related) things, you can deal with 70% of what Ward has used in previous fights that was more effective than what his opponent was doing.

I think that saying Hagler has only a puncher's chance against any middleweight is a little ... um, I dunno how to put it without sounding insulting ... maybe incorrect is the word I am looking for.

That said, I am fully on the GGG train and don't see any current middle posing too much of a threat to him right now, especially because Golovkin seems to have a granite chin in addition to his other talents. Stevens hit him clean with a left hook with some steam on it, and GGG barely slowed down.

Hagler-GGG would have been a really good, competitive fight imho, and that's high praise from me because Hagler was a badass destroyer that I rate highly.

I like Golovkin and think he's a good fighter. How good remains to be seen. When I hear stuff like "Hagler would only have a puncher's chance", it says to me that he is overhyped by some in view of his competition to date.
