Hopkins was everything Floyd was (and was not), yet made much less $ over his career

The difference is that Floyd is now backed by a machine that understands peoples psychology and marketing. Floyd never had much fan base outside of his core in Michigan and a little in Vegas before the De La Hoya bout. He was very respectful in interviews and super quiet outside of the ring. Hopkins was relatively unknown to the public until he fought Trinadad in 2001. He had been fighting since '88 and did not get any real fan fare until 13 years later. He had to act a fool just to get that fight, so did Floyd for the HBO 24/7, where he had 50 Cent, his uncle going to court, flaunting money and people ate that **** up.

The point of the story is people say the like humble fighters but thats not true. Maybe for White fighters and Asian but nobody watches a Blck fighter unless he acts like a arrogant fool. If I'm wrong then tell me why Adrien Broner gets more fan fare than Andrade, Crawford, and Ward put together. They are better fighters, quiet, respectful but I don't see as many threads for them like Mayweather or Broner.

 

Floyd just filled a void after Tyson and Oscar. There was a huge void left after that. He was in the right place at the right time. He was the most talented boxing had at the time.

But give it to Floyd he played that hand very well with marketing and overhyping.

 

In a few years after boxing, Floyd will be broke, and Hopkins will still be a millionaire.

the difference between Hopkins and Pac/Floyd is that these three beat the ppv king in ODLH but hopkins went on and lost soon after while Pac and Floyd seemed undefeatable. Also Hopkins has lost many times because he has had tough times with faster younger fighters

 

If Hopkins was undefeated he would have made the same amount of $

 

and if Mayweather had 7 losses he wouldnt be making what he's making today.

 

Because Floyd is an obnoxious manchild who constantly talks out of his ass. For whatever reason the public eats that **** up.

Hopkins isn't undefeated because4 he took on all comers There will NEVER be another fighter come close to what he has achieved.
Oh BTW if these fights had been held anywhere but Vegas Floyd would have 2 losses on his record TODAY!! Castillo 1 & Maidana 1. Wise up and smell the roses Mayweather is all smoke & mirrors Floyd is nt worthy of carrying Nards jockstrap

 

Bernard Hopkins in all fairness has really had only 3 losses. A close one to Chad Dawson & a unanimous dec to Sergy
Kovalev. Yes Jones jr beat him too but ran rather than give him a rematch until Roy needed the $$$$.
Bernard & Manny have losses yes because they have taken on all comers and ducked NO ONE . Floyd only has a BOGUS 0 he's really been beaten twice before

 

Floyd and his people did a great job of promoting him. Another difference is that Floyd remained unbeaten and is also a more athletic type which I think also helps a bit.
