    Josey talking sense as usual.:good

Of course these fighters should have to prove themselves before they get ranked in the top 10 by a major org and it's a complete joke that a journeyman/bum like Jamie Pittman get a shot at a long time champ in Sturm. This is just one example in many over the years. Pittman looked sheeet and was completely schooled and stopped by a champ who barely ever stops anyone.

What about when the bum Frank LoPorto fought Trout for his world title. Farkin hell that guy LoPorto is a complete bum who can't fight at all. He makes Dales Berries look like Sugar Ray Leonard.

Bottom line if you fight for a boxing world title then you should be a quality fighter with PROVEN skills at the top top level.:bbb

In most cases Regional titles are easy to come by. They are generally private enterprise, affiliated with one of the majors at a cost i.e. Annual membership fee. In return the peak body will grant its champ a decent rating, depending who the chief is.
e.g. PABA's chief Yangsup Shim is WBA's vice president, therefore, its champs are far more likely to score a higher rating than some of the other regional champs affiliated with WBA

Hopefully that explains the doggy side of pro boxing

Thanks for taking the time to explain that to me , is this PABA How Geale etc are despite losing a fight ( badly in Geales case v GGG ) are only having one fight upon his return v his mate Fletch and securing top 5 rankings with the WBA ? ,,,,,, WTF ?????

If this is the reality of Pro Boxing down under then it's run in a far more shoddy manner than it is here , :-(
    Thanks again , :good

Francis is 100% correct - Frank La Porto getting a title shot was the 2nd most embarrassing thing I've come across in boxing, the most embarrassing was the actual fight.

It's not just Downunder. It's Asia Pacific virus, due to a number of Regional Organisations

I meant Southern Hemisphere but has it spread here into the Northern Hemispher ? Our orgs are corrupt enough as it is but you can't SELL a fighter a genuine world title shot after only one qualifying fight (that's abusing the system to it's extreme) , sad to see this being Geales legacy and what he will remembered for as he was a tidy fighter once . :-(

All fair and well, results in major title fights for Australians of well, the last 10 years have been pretty abysmal! Geale fell to a monster in GGG and lost a fight he should've won against Barker. Unfortunately for Fletch, he seemingly hadn't fought anyone before he fought Jacobs.

But, although the title was on the line, and yes he was ranked high enough because of alphabet soup regional titles, if you honestly think La Porto was called up to fight Trout as anything other then a tune up for Trout, you have got to be kidding yourself! It's honestly as bad as saying almost anyone that has fought GGG over the last 3 years was a "chance" of winning a world title.

Australia has a huge problem in finding decent world class contenders because 90% of them refuse to fight the best fighters in their own countries before they go for their dreams! Michael Zeraffa is a great example of this! Spends almost 2 years being terrified of the thought of Rocky Jerkic because he's scared of losing his "0". Then gets pumped when he leaves our shores!
