Why interpret it as a 'dig' at anyone, Fra? It's just that Spike speaks with a real Cork accent....our two recent middleweights Macklin and Lee have strong Irish roots, but when they open their mouths they don't sound all that irish, do they? No harm in that it's just that somehow the Irish accent just clinches it as far as being "irish" is concerned. That said, wasn't Spike born in London too? I think he was. He could do some damage yet, if he is matched right.
I hope that the Dark Lord has seen something in Quillin that he thinks that Andy can exploit to land that right hook.
If Lee can't do it, then Joe Saunders is going to have to try and win the WBO title the hard way.....were talking about winning against Quillin ON POINTS in the US...a very, very tall order indeed. atsch Mind you he is highly rated by the other governing bodies too, so he does have options....:bbb
No he wasn't, Dutchie. He wasn't always known for his left hook. Andy was always known for his RIGHT hook being his Sunday punch. Who did he ever stop with a left hook? He SHOULD have a great straight left, or left cross, given his height and reach, but for some reason he has never managed to get it working for him. Given his height and reach Andy really ought to be much better than he is at LONG range. But for some reason he isn't.
Isn't it about time we heard directly from Andy himself? Wouldn't you think he'd say something about his situation, for the sake of his fans? Wassamarrer Andy, cat got your tongue? Does anybody else find the deafening silence around this fight a bit strange? No one involved is commenting at all. Very odd.:huh Just exactly how "certain" is Lee v Quillin??? :huh
yes i will... the talent turning pro in the south of our country is unreal atm...theres real potential there for any promoter to cash in on it.. the national stadium would be full everytime if some of these guys were put on the same bill.:good
I know. We're an event-driven society. Put it on and they will come. I'm surprised no one is giving it a go....there is room for one or two small promoters down here at this stage. I know there are some problems with venues etc but still.....
Yeah i agree if a small (or big) promoter booked a long term deal with the national stadium every two months you would do well id say, Bring in moderate opponents pay the local lads in tickets and just keep it ticking over, just like Dunlop is doing in Belfast, Surely if you went to the bui and stated you wanted to hold six shows a year they would see sense with the costing, The dublin lads alone would make up the show for you,add the likes of sheehan,mc carthy, etc and you would have a good line up with good support,
I see LSC is gone to Al Haymon. Wonder what the implications for a Frampton fight are because of this? Apparently it was done to avoid LSC having to fight Rigo. Haymon seems very "protective" of his fighters....and Quillin is with him......
could some of you furnish an old friend with the details of the show in dublin on the 20th (?) with tommy mccarthy on...others on the bill, times etc... thanks
although the atmosphere with frampton will be unreal, i am more drawn towards this neat little showcase night in dublin.
