I can find no examples of Dawson calling out Calzaghe prior to the November 8th 2008 fight with Jones, nor any rumours of talks between the two camps prior to that date either. So it was not a case of Jones over Dawson, but Dawson waiting to see who won so he could call out the winner and hopefully boost his image by beating them - Calzaghe, however, had been planning to retire after 2008 since before he fought Kessler.
