Now it seems that ITV are back into boxing with Carl Frampton I am just wondering what your favourite fight was of the last ITV era. Amir Khan vs. Michael Gomez - Amir Khan was of course one of the most ****y *****s going and thought it would be easy. It turned out to be a great fight. Clinton Woods vs. Glen Johnson 3 - Absolute tear up. Brilliant fight that saw two world class boxers just going at it. Amir Khan vs. Willie Limond - The fight where Amir Khan was the benefactor of a long count. Real tear up from beginning to end. Graham Earl vs. Michael Katsidas - This fight saw Michael Katsidas in his absolute peak when he was giving the best in the world, like Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor, all they could handle. Earl was seen as a struggling domestic level fighter with little hope but came in motivated and the two produced a real tear up. Junior Witter vs. Timothy Bradley - Tim Bradley came over with only $6 dollars in his bank account. Junior Witter was always very arrogant and tried to make his name off the back of Ricky Hatton. Bradley came over and cemented his place on the world title scene with a clear victory which one judge outrageously scored for Witter. Joe Calzaghe vs. Jeff Lacy - Who could forget this? The pre-fight build up where all of Lacy's arrogant friends were slating Calzaghe, then the interviews with Calzaghe in his humble settings in the valleys followed by probably the greatest master class ever seen in a British boxing ring. Danny Williams vs. Matt Skelton 1 - What a fight this was. Williams had the name value and Skelton was the unbeaten old man looking to prove he could reach the next level. The two got in there and absolutely battered each other for 12 rounds ending in a split decision that could have gone either way. Carl Froch vs. Jean Pascal - Great fight the two went at each other for 12 rounds in a very close fight which the score cards did not reflect.
I believe it was mate but they did show Taylor vs Froch on a delayed coverage not sure if it went out on ITV 1 though. I didn't include that even though it was a great fight it wasn't on live.
I think the fact many of the other fights haven't got votes shows that most the people on here have only been following boxing two minutes. Skelton vs. Williams was a classic.
seen them all they should bring back boxing midweek on ITV the old match room shows were great stretch was always good to watch
calzaghe was the best performance, but i enjoyed froch pascal the most because it was the 1st fight i watched on a projector i inherited. i spent the day skimming and painting my chimney breast to use as a screen, they were full size and it felt as though they were fighting in my front room! it was a brutal fight, where they had a round off to take a breather!
Calzaghe Lacy would surely be most people's answer although Froch vs Jean Pascal was pretty good too and far more competitive. An honourable mention goes to Bradley vs Witter as it took me by surprise and was great to see big mouth Witter get unceremoniously dethroned.
