Is there a middleweight knockout that trumps this one?

Valdez could pop. Their first fight is an all time classic that should have been fight of the year. At one point valdez clips briscoe with a right hand that knocks him clear across the ring.

Julian Jackson's obliteration of Herol Graham will never be surpassed. Graham fell as if some supernatural power had snatched the life from his body. Graham fell so symmetrically that it was graceful. Jackson walking away with his arm raised before Herol thudded only added to it's beauty.

Cheers. That was an unbelievable KO...but what I'm asking is if there has been another KO that was unexpected over a very durable opponent.

    I'd imagine that fight was a war...:good
Is there a better KO out there Klomp? Over such a tough fighter like a Briscoe?

Robby over Fullmer, demolishing a guy who stood up to Fernandez and lasted with Lausse even though he was down and hurt a couple times is no joke. Those two are premier MW punchers.

Steele stopping Overlin and Risko is no joke either neither were stopped in over 150 career fights other than that. (Well Overlin once before in his 3rd pro bout but no one after that including Ezzard, Hostak, Apostoli, Garcia)

    Classic knockout.

    A few others worth consideration...

    Carter vs Griffith
    Sibson vs Minter
    Dewitt vs Quinones
Nunn vs Kalambay.....more in terms of Kalambay being a great defensive fighter than super durable.

It's a great pick, one that has few contenders.

That moment when Briscoe gets up and can't fathom why his legs aren't functioning...scary.

A shame we don't have a few snippets of Fitzsimmons' middleweight tenure. He was routinely said to drop opponents like bricks.

Everyone keep their eyes open on the 21st. Murray is tough.

Robinson over Graziano has always been a favorite of mine. So explosive was that right hand and the reaction afterwards of Rocky with his foot fumbling for his footing while horizontal. It was such a classic reaction that Stallone used that exact sequence in either the first or second Rocky movies. The only difference was that in real time where Graziano's head clears and he grabs the ropes hurriedly to beat the count, he doesn't, whereas Stallone's character does.

Jorge Castro's Stoppage of John David Jackson was straight out of a Rocky Movie.
