I noticed there has been a lot of talk about the one and only Joe Calzaghe lately, so I decided I should share my story.

Some time ago I was a professional boxer. My career arc was typical of a decent boxer; I had an early streak but lost and was never able to regain a lot of momentum. I never made it to the elite level, so I became a "stepping stone" for upcoming prospects.

Time went on and my career and life were going nowhere. I was being beaten up by younger, stronger guys, just to pay my bills. My wife left me, and my debts were mounting. My life was spiraling out of control until one day my promoter called me up.

"How would you like to fight for the belt?" he said. I was utterly shocked. I had no idea, given my career arc, that I was in a position to challenge for THE belt. He later told me it was actually just the WBO belt, but still I knew I would be making a record pay day.

The fight was set. I was to face Joe Calzaghe! This was the chance of a lifetime. Before the fight Joe came up to me and said "so you're the second best in the world, huh". This puzzled me as even I didn't believe that, but I rolled with it anyway.

The fight was bizarre. Joe threw a lot of these "slapping" punches. After a few rounds he threw what must've been 20 "slap punches" in a row. I honestly couldn't feel them but it must've looked like I was in danger so the referee stopped the fight. I was used to getting beat on by hard hitting prospects, so this was an easy way to make my money. I have kids and would like to be there for them mentally; fighting Joe was the best move I could've made.

I used the money from the fight to start a business and have never looked back. THANK YOU, Joe Calzaghe, for saving my life.

The only guys fitting that desription of stoppage loss were Manfredo, Brewer, Sheika, and Ferrerya. All of whom either had multiple title shots or continued to box on after Calslappy.
