I actually agree that, as of this moment, Calzaghe remains the GOAT at super middleweight. But that doesn't put him above someone like Hopkins on the ATG list. Anybody in the top 15 ATG in a historically deep division like middleweight is going to be ranked higher than the GOAT in a division that only came alive during brief periods in the 90s and a few years ago.

Calzaghe should have done more with his career, because I think he had the style to fight Hopkins well even in Hopkins' prime.

That being said, I rank Calzaghe above Toney, whose career I felt was even more of a disappointment than Joe's

The greatness of a fighter on this board is inversely related to the number of hate threads. On the flip side, the number Calzaghe propaganda threads are a classic case of "protesting too much". Great fighters don't need propaganda, their greatness is unmistakeable and supremely evident.

no extend the logic, and joe had his best three wins at the end of his career, part timer tv boxer bika, puppet champ lacy and genuine contender + titlist Lacy.

extend the logic to Hopkins and hes sitting between two losses one side (his first drop in a high standard of years of unbeatens save on DQ, and a loss and DQ which he was losing to dawson) and Hopkins is on a losing streak without a doubt. As is everyone is history in the 40s.

you are asking for a link to a medical record? why would you ask for something private to be put on a public board?

Furthermore why are you asking me, a healthcare pro, to do that? I could get reprimanded for that even if I had access to health records.

so you think the boxing board changed the decision without medical evidence? it would be easy enough to spot the damage on an xray.

let me know why you think that.

No doubt in my mind. We saw how Hopkins was knocked down by Echols, even though it wasnt counted, we saw how Hopkins dropped out of the ring against Allen, we saw how Hopkins was on wobbly legs against Mercado when put down twice, we have seen how Calzaghe has never been seriously troubled or having to hold to survive and when put down go on the attack.
Prime Calzaghe in my opinion would have likely stopped Hopkins. as it was the faded, bloated, busted hand version of Calzaghe had Hopkins needing time out. The prime fit version would have put far more pressure on. It was Calzaghes excellent boxing brain that won him his fight against Hopkins. People say it was due to pressure, but it wasnt. It was because Calzaghe was able to land his left more often than Hopkins could land his right
