Oh look, it's 12:25pm Eastern Standard Time on February 9th in the year of our Lord Two Thousand Fifteen and Roy Jones is still not the lineal champion in any division.

    When was Joe?

Even you aren't dumb enough to claim that:

    Joe was a better fighter.

    He has a better resume.

    He accomplished more.

I don't even think KillSomething's that dumb, and that's saying something.

You have not cleared up anything.. As I have not disputed this one bit.

I was schooling Rico, who called the Ring belt a trinket when Roy was holding it but credits Calzaghe for holding it..

He also credits Calazaghe for being THE LHW champion, and that simply is not possible if he is not going to credit Roy....

    Are you all clear now?

James DeGale has worked himself into the mandatory position to fight Froch, and Froch has vacated the belt and DOESN'T want to fight the old-timer Hopkins.

Froch doesn't want to fight 50-year-old Hopkins for a huge payday in the UK, because he thinks he won't get any credit if he wins and will get embarrassed if he loses.

So does Froch want to fight for money (vs Hopkins) or for glory (vs DeGale)? It seems he is afraid of losing in both cases. Calzaghe took the Hopkins fight and won in America, not in the UK.

Calzaghe turned down Froch because Froch wasn't a money-maker at the time. Froch has turned down DeGale for the same reason. The difference is that Calzaghe fought a legendary name, whereas Froch is afraid of the legend.

But trolling about Joe Calzaghe is Super Hans bread and butter. Have you really thought this through IB?

That's not what IB is doing, but it would be a great idea. Merge ALL threads into one gigantic Calslappy thread!

So there will be only one thread on the forum, which allows only Calslappy talk. And if you want to talk about a different fighter, you have to find a way to put Calslappy into it.

For example, if I want to talk about Floyd, I'll have to start by saying, "Calslappy retired undefeated. Can Floyd do the same?", and from that point on I have the green light to talk about Floyd. :hat:thumbsup:rasta

    You're hilarious!

You want to talk about trinkets and the value of the belts etc?

Let's talk about the huge unification bout between Joe and Kessler in 2007.

Let's look at the belts that were on the line:

The WBO - Joe beat a faded Eubank who hadn't fought at the weight for two years, and who hadn't won at the weight for three years, for the VACANT title.

The WBA Super/The WBA World - obtained by beating Beyer, who was nothing more than decent, and Manny Siaca, who's only notable win was an S/D against Mundine.

The WBC - obtained by beating Beyer.

The IBF title was relinquished by Joe, to fight Peter Manfredo.

Yet this is all amazing to you?

You'll trash Roy for not beating 'The Man' in any division, (even though he beat Toney) but what Joe did was spectacular, right?

It took him ten years to unify the division, after beating Kessler (who's not elite) in a competitive fight.

Do you know what one of the greatest moments of Joe's career was?

When Roy left the SMW division for LHW, in October, 1996.

If Roy had decided to remain at the weight, where would that have left Joe and Ottke etc?

It's hilarious to read your nonsense about trinket belts, whilst heaping praise on a guy who defended a vacant WBO for numerous years. The only reason he's recognised as the GOAT at SMW, is because he fought at the weight for 90% of his career, through a lack of ambition to move up to LHW much sooner.

Joe was a better fighter, Jones has the better resume (because of Toney), and Joe accomplished more.

    :good

    Better Fighter:
Joe: Beat everybody he fought and never avoided anyone (exceptions being Froch who had no legitimacy at the time and Dawson who brought no money. And he moved up and retired in those respective situations.) Fought his entire career at his natural weight without dehydrating/rehydrating.

Roy: Lost by brutal KO multiple times, was outboxed by Griffin and lost by DQ, avoided the best fighters in each division he fought in (barring the Toney fight), and cherrypicked his opponents when he could have been fighting the likes of McClellan, Jackson, Collins, Benn, Liles, Nunn, Rocchigiani, Michalczewski, Sanders, Byrd, Klitschko, and Lewis.

    Better Resume/Accomplishments:
    Joe:
    Undefeated.
    24(11)-0 World Title Fights Record
WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF, RING, Lineal, 21 defenses at SMW
    RING, 1 defense at LHW
Best win: Hopkins (p4p#3, RING LHW Champ, ATG)
HOF Opponents Defeated: Hopkins, Jones*, Eubank*, Kessler*

*Jones was clearly shot when Calzaghe beat him.
*Eubank is not currently in the HOF but will most likely be in sooner or later. At any rate, he was past his best when Calzaghe beat him.
*Kessler is just 10(7)-3(1) in title fights, but only lost to Hall of Famers (Calzaghe, Ward, and Froch). His win over Froch may see him through, assuming he doesn't make a comeback and win some more. Virgil Hill made it in at 24( 8 )-5(1) despite never beating a single Hall of Famer and losing to a few guys who weren't close to that level...

    Roy:
    22(14)-5(3) World Title Fights Record
    IBF, 1 defense at MW
    IBF, 5 defenses at SMW
WBC*, WBA*, IBF*, RING 0 defenses* at LHW
    WBA*, 0 defenses at HW
Best win: Toney (p4p#1, IBF SMW Champ, ATG)
HOF Opponents Defeated: Toney, Hill, Hopkins*, McCallum*, Trinidad*

*Did not defend WBC LHW belt before vacating, and never won it back in the ring. Decision to restore belt was later declared illegal in court.
*WBA LHW belt stripped from Michalczewski without cause.
*IBF LHW belt stripped from Michalczewski without cause.
*RING LHW belt awarded without winning it in the ring.
*In light of the above facts, I listed it as 0 defenses. It was 12 defenses if you ignore the fact that he wasn't the rightful owner of any of the belts he was defending.
*WBA HW belt stripped from Lennox Lewis
*McCallum and Trinidad were well above their prime weight and completely shot at the time Jones beat them, while Hopkins was not yet developed into his Hall of Fame form.

    Title Fight Record: Advantage Calzaghe
    Quality of Opposition: Even
Dominance of Respective Divisions: Advantage Calzaghe

I lean Calzaghe's way because he clearly established himself as #1 in two divisions whereas Jones never did it in any division. Calzaghe also never ducked anyone, let alone 15 or so fighters. Jones built his post-SMW career on empty accomplishments and paper titles, while all of Calzaghe's accomplishments came without asterisks.

Oh, and Jones was a PED cheat.
