Wlad was prepared 100% when he fought Purrity, Sanders and Brewster.
Can you prove how he wasn't?

Was Vitali under-prepared when Byrd 'rope-a-doped' him? Did Byrd just get 'lucky':patsch

Wlad had to use a substance on his gloves to beat Byrd when he was in his prime. Look how easily Ibeauchi beat Byrd. Wlad was a level below Ike. That shows his true level. Wlad is a 2nd, 3 rd rate fighter.
Byrds record is probably better than Vitali but Vitali was better than Wlad in every way apart from power.

Yeah I've always thought that Vitali was overrated af

People swore up and down that Vitali would trash Wlad and I laughed my ass off

Vitali wasn't that great but Wlad is

Vitali is overrated because of his performance against Lewis but the fact of the matter is that Lewis was totally out of shape and unmotivated that night.

If Vitali was any good he would have KO'd Lewis that night

    Vitali, by a landslide.

He defended his title 10 times. Byrd only defended his title 4 times (one was a draw and another was a SD).

He was much more dominant than Byrd, barely losing a round and at one point had the highest KO% of any HW champ ever. Vitali was never knocked down either.

Vitali also beat 4 up and comers with no defeats (Solis, Charr, KJ, Arreola). Byrd never did any such thing.

    Vitali
    1) Arreola (RTD10)
    2) Peter (RTD8)
    3) Sanders (TKO8)
    4) Solis (KO1)
    5) Williams (TKO8)
    6) Johnson (UD12)
    7) Gomez (TKO9)
    8) Charr (TKO4)
    9) Adamek (TKO10)
    10) Hide (KO2)

    Byrd
    1) Vitali (Vitali clearly up on the scorecards by a lot. Byrd needed to knock down Vitali 3 times to barely get a win.)

    2) Holy (UD)
    3) Tua (UD)
    4) McCline (SD)
    5) Oquendo
    6) Williamson (one of the worst title fights ever)

Can't really see anymore worthy fighters for Byrd.

    Record:

    Vitali: 45-2
Byrd: 41-5 (Knocked out few times, and decisioned). AP beat him in his 14th fight.

Byrd's 3 best wins: Old Holyfield, Tua, and Vitali...are the same as Lennox Lewis's 3 best wins!

Wlad is the Heavyweight King, thanks Nay-Sayer.

If Wlad is the Heavyweight King then Corrie Sanders is the Heavyweight GOD.

    Congratulations, Genius...

Byrd has a far more impressive resume than Vitali.

A great majority of of Vitali's wins are against a certain style, mostly flat footed come forward plodders he excelled against, and immobile stiffs like Timo Hoffman who fought like they had a steel rod going up their ass that prevented them from having any degree of flexibility.

Vitali also loved fighting older, blown up fighters like Gomez, Adamek, and Orlin Norris. He loved fighting older, well past prime fighters in general. Lewis, Donald, Briggs, Sanders.

His efforts against fighters that broke the mold of falling into his most preferred style to fight against saw him being ineffective and or flat out losing. He looked clueless against the most gun shy Kevin Johnson we ever saw (And that's saying something) and Chris Byrd.

Wlad on the flip side has fought a complete range of fighters and been successfully adapted against all of them. Gold medalists, cuties, brawlers, boxer punchers, southpaws.

Vitali's resume is smoke and mirrors and if Vitali had an extra 20 fights against far superior and varied opposition, he'd have several more losses on his resume as well. I hope in the coming years people start to see how great matchmaking flattered Vitali's real abilities in the ring.
