Ben was a kick boxer that trained boxing, only six weeks before a bout to box.
He took kickboxing on, won three world titles and fought all round the world for very good coin in K1 and GLORY World Series.

He is thirty years old now and has stopped training Kickboxing to concentrate on boxing.

This comes as a pleasant surprise. I didn't think he would ever make the decision to come back and concentrate full time on boxing.

More blokes like Ben holding that historic title is what's needed in Australian boxing looking at from the outside in mate , a few defences with a steady climb in class each defence and if he comes through four or five defendes a possible Commonwealth title shot could be the go imo . Bens talented and young enough to have a decent boxing career yet .

When Ben hits them they stay hit. I don't think people will be lining up to fight him.

I don't know...Ben is a pretty generic first name in the English-speaking world, and "Edwards" a hardly uncommon surname.

I'm sure even filtering my search to "Ben Edwards boxer" might not yield as much valuable info as could be given by the savvy Aussie boxing fans on here. Five bout novices tend not to have a wealth of ink written on them, on any continent, unless they come from huge amateur backgrounds or have some other reason not to be relatively obscure.

    c'mon lets be fair dinkum.

when u enter his name, the first thing that comes up is his wiki page.

even u have enough initiative to make it that far, lol.

Ah...yes, I did actually see him get positively wrecked by 'Reem in K1 several years back.

It wasn't even vaguely competitive. Edwards showed heart, but it was still a complete blowout.

A bit of a chunky ****** too, as I recall? (and not just because he stood opposite the impossible-to-compete-with - and maybe artificially enhanced - physique of Alistair the horse-devourer...)

...and skimming through his record bespeaks why his name doesn't otherwise ring a bell. He loses every time he steps up in class, including that night - to Zimmerman, Verhoeven, etc. Pretty much any big name he's fought internationally except shot Mo.

Yeah he's pretty average once he steps up the competition on an international level, but as a domestic fighter he goes all right.

Reem did put a number on him and Reem has a glass chin :patsch

Pardon my ignorance but how big is the domestic kickboxing scene in Oz?

Is there all that deep a talent pool?

I''ll refer to someone who knows more than me, but i think we are better internationally in kick boxing then we are at boxing.
