Running

    As might seen in my last thread ive just started boxing.

    Ive been doing swimming 3 times a week for quite a while and now i want to get into running to make my fitness better, I was just wanting some advice i'm not very fit so how many miles should i start with and how do you up the distance etc?

    Try, when in the pool running on the spot. Make sure water is up to your chin, for safety. Use a high knee lift, do it for as long as it suites.

    What matters isn't how many miles but running keeping the rhythm by improving your breathing during the exercise (cardio) without stopping. Distance and speed will increase with time as long as you get used to breathe correctly (same in boxing exercises).

    Also try to run straight and with your chest up, sometimes when you are tired you start to bend your back and that ruins both your breathing and spine.

    My last recommendation is avoid using your heels, just use your toes to rebound and will be easier to keep the momentum.

    Unless you are very unfit long distance running will do very little for your boxing fitness. Distance runs are more for weight management.

    Stick to swimming, mate.

    Low impact = Less Injuires.

    For my age i feel like i am very unfit tbh

    I'm assuming your name is an indicator of your age. If that's the case, stick to swimming, cycling and or rowing.

    No matter what anyone tells you, you don't need to run to box or be fit.

    Versaclimber is the best piece of equipment for cardio if you can find one

    in all my workouts it's quality over quantity.

    Laying down is the way to go, to get fitter :D. Makes the body 35% more efficient.
